Snorkel looks sweet.
Did you get the noise down to 95db yet? Hope that doesn't restrict the horses.

Great looking RIDE, have you thought about the induction noise in your right ear :?: , If your a smoker it would be ideal for flicking your ash out the window  . I'm very impressed with the quality of your build, all most looks to good to use, keep the build up dates coming.

A LITTLE EACH DAY WILL SEE THE JOB FINISHED,

Induction noise is not that bad, sounds pretty sweet.

Had a pretty good argument with the certifer over the db limit, i was 1 db over at idle- which is absoloute bullshit
He declined my suggestion to walk down to the bus station and test a hamilton city bus, and see how much over that was
Also theres plenty of winch trucks which are as loud or louder(Maybe i just need to go to Auckland to get a cert)

Your certifier is an idiot. 1dB is the JND for the human ear (JND = Just Noticeable Difference, yes it is a technical term  ). Most people would have to concentrate pretty hard to pick a 1dB difference in sound pressure level, especially for relatively loud volumes like car exhaust. And then theres the accuracy of his SPL meter to consider, which could easily account for a 1dB difference.

Just glue a restricter in the end of the pipe to get a cert then cut it out once you have the little plate firmly attached to the fire wall

or bung a few steelo pads up the tail pipe and put a pin thru the the end to keep them there, makes a noticeable difference to volume and very easy to put in and remove later on

What ECU are you using?

What did the dyno run show? Bad AFR's?

Still using the factory ecu, the dyno run showed a few little things that ive fixed, but nothing that would explain its crazy thirst

I drive mine quite hard and get around 350km's out of a 70L tank so that's about 5km's per litre.

What AFR were you seeing on the dyno under load? My stock ECU does around 10:1 at full noise so it run's quite rich. Have you got the O2 sensor's hooked up?

Matt.

It was dipping down into the 11s.

At 10:1 you would just about have had fuel running out of the exhaust, I thought your truck had a link running it?

Cheers

I have a Soarer running the stock ECU and a Link in my Hilux. I have two 1UZ's - I am a piglet :-) Lucky my missus has a 1.6 Civic.

I dyno'd the Soarer recently in preparation for the M90 setup that is about to be bolted to it. Under full load at WOT it was doing about 10.7:1

How are you calculating the fuel economy? I have never bothered calculating the economy of my Hilux, I just use it. Those figures were for my Soarer which only weighs 1500kg's versus the Hilux at around 2000. I did one big road trip in the Hilux and at open road speeds crusing at 100k's I got about 350k's out of the Hilux tank which was around 60L if I remember correctly.

Matt.
