Even with a generous dose of tyre shine they are still crappy :lol:

Priced up some Goodyear wrangler MT/R's, $300 each in 33x12.5 r15.
Next on the list.
I,ve done 12,000 on the Maxxis tyres and they've still got 12mm of tread, but the side walls are getting very tatty.
any one want a cheap set of mud tyres???
$100 each.

heh, some guy walked past on the main street as i was just geting out, and said "man, have you gotta a gun mounted on the back???".

Couldn't be bothered to explain that it was a high lift jack and that the cover was to stop the dirt, dust and crap from getting on it and into the mechanisim, making it usless when you came to need it.

Fingers crossed my mud flap material will show up from Palmside in Chch tomorrow, then the jobs done. Well, i still have to put some more support at the front of the rear bumper ends so i can jack of them.

Mmm, havn't quite decided on that yet.
I like it there because it does offer some protection.
My current plan is to leave it there, and perhaps look into makin a removeable tongue.
Very valid point, especially as i don't actually have a trailer :wink:

Will do, got the time of work, and booked the ferry this morning, so its shaping up.
Will be going for a cruise at easter to probably. I'm keen to go the 42nd Traverse, but will see if my mates will be up for it, they have the Hamilton disease, they don't like to venture to far from home :lol: :lol:

Ha, just remembered somthing funny, a mate i were shagging around in the garage last night and he found my tape measure. Next thing i know he was going round the safari measuring the hight between the chassis and ground, then the diff centers and the ground.
He then went out side and measured his stock Terrano, on 31's.
You wouldn't believe it but, but my chassis to the ground at the lowest point is 315mm, the Terrano was 350mm. WTF!!!!!
At the front diff, i had 220, and he had 230 at the lowest point on the A arm.
And people say the biggest problem with Terrano's is the ground clearence. Thats definatly not the case, i wish i had measured my Terrano with the Simex's on!!!
I sure hope my standard springs have sagged alot, else those new ones are going to have to be a generous 65mm higher!!!!

ToughDog heavy duty raised height winch and bull bar for the front, and heavy duty raised height for heavy loads for the rear was the explination i recieved from Craig at Genie4x4.
He reckoned 50 to 65mm in the front depending on the bullbar, which is just a light factory stainless one, and a definate 65mm in the back.
I can't go much higher with out spending some seriouse $$ to set up the steering and driveline angles, SWB Patrols have a V V short rear drive shaft.

Im currently running Munroe Adventure shocks front and rear. I checked and apparently they are supposed to be long enough to handle the new springs. We shall see. :lol:

Be interested to see what you think of them.
I turned down a mates 4" kit because I had only just got my Tough Dogs installed but now find I hate the springs.
They are the recommended for my SWB, but are too heavy and the only way I get full artic. out of them is by hitting things a bit harder (although the truck handles well on road).
Will be going for new springs soon but will keep the TD shocks.

I was worried about them being to heavy.
My other option was the TJM series 2000 coils, but based on price i chose the ToughDogs.

May be i should go with the XJS??

I personally would go for a softer spring, even though I dont do much in the way of off road driving.
I have found the springs very stiff and even when I was getting them installed, the mechanic struggled to compress them enough to get them in.
I also know of 2 guys up north who have the same problem with TD coils, but they wouldnt go for TJM either.
I'm looking at going to Chamberlain Suspension in ChCh to get some custom ones made in a 3" lift.

Have you got the coils? Let me know if you want to take mine for a drive so you can decide for yourself, wouldnt want you to base your decision on my opinion, and I havent been for a drive to the coast for a while....

Hmm, no i havn't got them yet, and i havn't parted with the $$ for them yet either, so its not to late.

The guy at Fully Equipped reckoned reports were that they articulated fine.
ToughDog, i couldn't get any first hand info on.

I think they might be ok, for me any way, as i do tend to take a lot of gear with me when i go 4wheeling, and probably would take more if i didn't have to worry about the rear end sagging down lower than the front.
Usualy theres a full tool box, socket set, box with oil/water compressor/wheel brace /jumper leads/ blocks for using the Hi lift etc, my recovery box with ropes chains and blocks etc, and then theres the camping gear........
If you where heading over, that would be great, but i wouldn't make a special trip!!!!
