You talking about the LT95 upper PTO?

I have one on the Stage 1 driving my winch. Very muchly excellent. There are a number around but you have to know who to ask.

Of course the Stage 1 and Rangie are slightly different. The Rangie is more common.

Its the LT230 transfercases from the look of it the later model one fitted to the defender on and I've got a couple of rangy classic 4 speed box's that have integral transfercases but from what I can see it looks like I might be able to do similar with parts of mine.... not very high on the list at the moment got to get the rear end done for a Costa trip in a couple of weeks and sort out my business

Just a wee update got both lower link and spring mounts done and panted

What did you fab those rear arms from Reese?
I like the thinking to increase the lower link length. Do you know what percentage of length you ended up with on the upper links?

Light weight above the axles :wink: I don't mind weight down low its what holds you to a sideling
The box is 50 square with a 6mm wall :lol: remember this build is cheap it was in the offcuts and with the bend in it :D
Sorry mate my shed PC has the cad and calculators but the length is less than 50% of lower links, its where it ended up to get the AS% dropping on extention.. its also setup so if this all turns out to be a bad idea I can shorten the links to just infront of the axle and I"m at a top link length of 80% and pretty standard

Come on Rok we know, how else would you know about the soft spot we have for landy's

with a bit of luck I'll get the top links sorted today then I get to see if the cheapo rubber bushes will hold it lol

Struggled a bit with this I knew the points its just how to tie it back the the chassis in the end I've just gone back to the spring mount as I figured it would be stronger... even tho it doesn't look very cool

Thats about the mark with the 15" shocks
Heres why I had to narrow the leaf spring bushes

I was a bit concerned it could have bound enough to stop travel but there is a wee bit more movement available
I do have one issue this is looking down the drivers link towards the fuel tank :roll:

Even tho it looks like its touching in the photo there is some day light but only just :roll: will play around with the spacers on the link eye to move it over a bit, if I ever get another tank for the other side I'll trim this one and seal both of them but for now spacers will work

With that done I mounted the spring I've already cleaned up (not looking forward to doing the other one)

Another wee update
Had Big T over doing some work on the toy, Re-timed the injector pump :roll: set it to what it should be according to online manuals... no change so trial and error got 2 keyways and 3 timing marks so end result is LD28 keyway and LD20 timing mark but it runs sweet no more smoke :lol: while he was at it he cut the loom out and left me with just what we need

Had some spare rocket launcher switches so they are glow and ignition and the old horn button is starter

Got the shackles sorted for the springs.... Couldn't find any tube that worked with the recycled hilux bushes so I carved some out of an old digger track pin :lol:

Was looking at my junk and offcut pile and came up with a bit of an idea there was some old bearings that had been setup as runners a bit of machining and some scrap 10mm and we have

should work and allow for miss-alignment due to articulation if it looks like they want to kick off to the side I'll weld stopper blocks on the side

I have an 88" underseat tank you may want,
no holes dents or modifications,
currently sitting with 30 odd litres of diesel in it
make an offer or swap deal on a set of shackles like that for my rover
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions

I would be keen on the swop but this style of shackle wont work on a standard leaf sprung truck your leaf pack is attached to the chassis with a rubber bush and 1/3 more leaf spring....weight would come on the bearings would allow the spring to roll to one side and the truck would collapse... they work on mine becoase the axle is located by the links and can't move to the side, there is a risk that they may still do it on hard articulation if it does happen I'm going to put some limit stops on the side to limit the side rotation
Maybe something else ?

Noexitroad I thought yours was a LWB, I've never heard of them having the underseat tank as standard fitting

Got the pins machined to hold the shackles and dropped her down on the springs.... LOL it works a treat definitly not standard landy suspension soft responsive.... I really wondered if the plastic strips would make any difference.... the springs respond that well they almost bounce!

A mate turned up, been out for a ride so he gave me a hand, he fished out the diff head and I welded that, the diff is a throw away anyway its a 4.7 and at some time in the past has eaten the spider gears would be my guess as there are dints on the pinion tooth faces

I lay down under the truck and welded the inside of the diff head where I'd shaved it, he then fitted up the axle, I sorted the battery box while he did that (I had to remove it so we could do the injector timing)

Got the rear shocks CAD'd up last night so I know where to place them

Drive shaft today and then the deck and shocks, little bit of luck might get it over the road to the loading ramp so I can see if the shackles need stoppers to limit side rotation

I always love reading about your builds, and especially how you think out of the square! Thanks for all the brain input and then showing us how you have done it via photos. Yours are definitely some of the better threads on this site.

I am curious about your plastic spring spacer/sliders. What keeps the rear ends of the plastic engaged with the spring leaves? I understand they are clamped where the 1/4 elliptic spring mounts to the chassis. I can see they are held by 1 or possibly 2 spring clamps, further out.
When the Landi articulates it's rear end, and the springs want to twist sideways, as well as raising or drooping, what holds the plastic to the leaves?

Shamelessly interested as my next mod for the trials setup for my 1929 Austin 7 Sports has been for a while, to get the rear 1/4 elliptic springs to flex more. Had been thinking about friction reducers and gaining more droop like I have at the front end. And there you have it all sorted!

Hope someone buys your Lada. It is far too good a project to just wreck, or crush. That would be sad.

I am told lots of green vegies, especially Kale, is good for bad backs / joint pains. I know about backs cos mine has been bad since I was 12!

I used 3mm thick because it has enough structure to hold its self in place when I get big drop only the bottom leaf will drop, thats why I've extended the spring retainer just to make certain it lines up again

Had a bastard day :lol: blastard brake lines.... I've replaced almost all of the lines in the truck, still got an easy bit to run to the back.... so much for a couple of hrs :roll: left me with alot to sort tomorrow

Big thanks to all the boys ended up having a bit of working bee on the old girl last night the last of us left at midnight :lol:

We have an exhust, brakes :lol: that was a bit of comedy... with the old landy drums up front and rover disks out back the peddle has next to no play but we managed to get the back axle braking and one of the front wheels and its holding pressure so thats good enough.... extended the rear drive shaft.... found some 6mm wall line pipe that with a polish slipped over the rover driveshaft tubes :roll:
Clearanced the chassis over the springs to allow more up travel and mounted some reinforcing and the shock hoop's will stop in and get the bolts so we can mount up the shocks and then we are all good to put the body on

She runs.... stuck in 4wd, brakes are binding and dragging well the ones that work both passanger calipers, rear diff is clicking... got a spare with me along with a spare couple of leaves so I can lift it if needed (lets see you coil boys do that on the trail lol)
