Bloody good off road.
Late 70's model from the looks.
They have same chassis as the later Discovery up to 1998.
Same basic design still exists in latest Defender.
Hard to say what its worth, depending on running gear if body rusted.
It will all be inner rust as well because outer panels are alloy. Is it still registered or rego on hold?
These older models are becoming sort after as collectors items now due to age. anything from $200 to $1200 perhaps.
It would be neat to have one again, but with later fuel injected motor.

Does it run?

You won't get a more capable open diffed 4x4 out the box.

I wouldn't be paying any more than $600 for it if it is dereged and doesnt run.

2 door rangies were fantastic.

But why don't you the same thing a cheaper way by buying a diesel D1 that's ready to go.

Do you want to be a fixit man or go off roading?

Give www.landroverspares.co.nz a call, he can get new rims of what ever size and width you desire for good prices and may even have something 2nd hand kicking around if your realy lucky.

Www.landroverspares.co.nz would also be my first point of call for any parts you need to get the old girl up and running. The best service from a parts supplier you'll get in the country.

You can run a 15x7 or 15x8 mangels rim with kings hd rear springs but dont forget to flatten the forward seam in the guard as it cuts tires real well on max compression . The 15 rims are easy to get and about $140 the 16s are the expensive ones . Your rims look like they have been widened out what do they measure , standard was only 61/2 according to my book . Disco rims are 16x7 but the positive offset gives you a terrible turning circle and you need the correct nuts .

The springs I ran on my 88 4dr were heavy duty for lpg tank in back .They gave about 30mm lift and a nice firm ride on the road I tried 265x 75 x16 bfg ats on the alloy rims but they rubbed on rear inner guard to much so sold them and went back to 31x10.5 x15s just have to watch that guard seem you will see it ,big hammer to flatten . If you have access to a lathe you can make up 30 mm alloy packers to fit under springs which work well with out to much expense , check out the kings spring web site it has a good catalogue with lifts
cheers nick

yeah nah you have to keep it now? you already saved $900 on the price,
and 4x4's are useful especially if you're buying a house,
for example: gardening lawn and tree and shrub removal,
painting and maintenance as a mobile scaffold,
landscaping to tow feature rocks logs and a levelling bar around the lawn.

I even used my last burnout car to relocate my garden shed and move 6m prefabbed garage walls around to the garages present location.
never sell your toys especially the bargains,
I could go on about the old mans brock commodore that he sold when I was 8 but that's just dumb.

don't tap out because the toys you have before you buy a house are easy to keep and the ones you try to acquire afterwards are hard to get.
