Not for a LR (haven't lost ALL of my marbles...yet ) but thought you lot would know best, need some stuff for my new truck and everywhere I've been so far all I get is no sorry can't help you with that. However they are quite common in Pomland so parts are easy to get over there from http://www.milneroffroad.com/ but I am unsure of the process to pay and ship stuff, anybody able to explain how I would go about it? Thanks in advance.

you need to find someone that'll ship international, a credit card, a computer and your ready to go customs will add gst onto any order over 400NZD (International shipping requires them to state the value of goods on the package) what shit are you going to get sent over

I imported a lot of stuff from both Aussie and UK when i was setting up my Disco 3. Eventually NZ Customs made me get a client number which was a simple process of a web application and a couple of days later they gave me a client number.
Tax always seemed to be higher than i calculated when i was to pick up stuff from likes of TNT who are damned expensive to freight with.

For the last 6 months, DHL via DHL express service are the cheapest to get anything in. I just ordered something this morning from US, DHL $77 vs Fedex $160.

GST is paid on total cost, including freight.
There is also a flat rate Customs fee to pay, usually about $42-$50
Most items don't incur duty these days but some parts do ...........
When you pay for items on credit card with overseas currency you also incur a 2.5% currency fee charged to credit card.
The biggest risk importing (apart from lack of warranty and local back-up) is dealing with an unknown supplier overseas, so emails back and forth before ordering helps ease nerves that they will respond once you have paid them the dollars.

Just normal crap, wheel cylinders cv boots manual FW hub kit. Toyota wanted $360 + GST for wheel cylinders, oh and that price was EACH not both sides How does the currency coversion side of things work i.e. do I just need to sick my numbers in and don't worry about it or what?

I have had good service from http://www.toyotaonlineparts.com/ before, genuine parts and a fraction of the price I was quoted by the local Toyota dealer
I ordered a flange for the back of the transfer case, plus some driveshaft bolts, washers and nuts $130 + $60 (freight) = total $190 (US dollars the exchange rate was good at the time, and as it was under $400 no GST)
Toyota NZ quoted $900 for the flange along (which was US$109)
If you are importing a number of parts work out whether keeping the packages under $400 (including freight) to save on GST is cheaper than one big package with an lower overall freight charge but with GST added.

I've got many contacts over there that have posted stuff on my behalf back to NZ. Depending on how convenient the item is to handle, they might be willing to receive and forward it.

Sounds good, it'll just be a box of small stuff shouldn't be bigger than 300mmsq and probably weigh less than 10kg.

The price to collect a 30x30x30 cm parcel, weighing 10.0kg
and deliver to New Zealand is...
£45.93 for our 4-5 days express service (VAT not charged)

come on your not going to go importing stuff like wheel cylinders for an offroad truck what you meant to say is you're going to get some brackets cut out locally and do a disc brake conversion and never have to worry about failing seized up drum brakes ever again

Too easy and cheap. Both head lights and both front indicators for my 94 TDi 200 Disco for NZ$247 landed to my rural address. More stuff on the way for the old girl again now. Been doing it for years and never lost a parcel and I also buy crap loads for the custom cruiser from the US. Cobra custom pipes were $980 excluding GST here and landed them for $520 odd last year. Helmets, forward controls, sissy bars, twin head lights every thing. Max. 5/6 days with DHL week end consolidation.

Hello, yep they are fine to do it. You might want to check out the shipping costs first. So once you have the exact size and weight, run it through the UK postage calculator.

Cheers for the offer, managed to find most of what I needed locally but still need to get some manual hubs at some stage.
