Well the discos days are numbered, going to pick up a 110 flat deck on the weekend and use the 200tdi from the disco in it. I wouldn't mind getting a r380 gearbox, where would i find one here?

Just bought a 4jb1t so may use that instead of the 200tdi in the 110

the R380 will not bolt up to the 200tdi.

the isuzu is a good donk but its a lot of work, i mean how much of the isuzu are you going to use and how much LR stuff are you going to use? box TF case etc

Its a pretty easy conversion compared to some other engine swaps I have done befor, just going to fit the engine at this stage, will look to upgrade the gearbox later, hard to beat $250 for a complete 4jb1t

Cheers, have done a bit of reading about the isuzu engines lately, I think the 4jb1t offers the best balance overall for power/economy/reliability/parts availability/tuning potential

Nah, waste of time stuffing round trying to match Isuzu to LR transmission. You'l move everything, cut everything and fab everything (eng mounts, radiator, trans tunnel, fire wall, trans mounts, bell housing, clutch, drive shafts and so on) and then wish you had the Isuzu gear ratios etc to suit the engine. 300tdi for all of the reliability, tuning, parts etc and it bolts to a R380 which is geared for it, and you probably only need to source an off the shelf g.box X member and blaze on some engine mounts.

300tdi can be had for nix
Just sayin ;)

The only thing that needs fabricating is the adapter and engine mounts. Gearbox will stay exactly where it is. I'm on my way home with it now. Will start a new thread and put up some pics

What is it abou land rovers? Own 4 of the things now, the green 2 door 200tdi is gone but have 2 manual 300tdi discos, the 110 project and a v8 disco parts/body donor
