Aftermarket Parts Suppliers in NZ (Series)

Postby lax2wlg » Tue Nov 14, 2017 5:54 pm

Hi there,
How are you? I am fine.
My Solihull Syndrome has flared up again so am currently undertaking a ground up rebuild of a NZ New (possibly NZ assembled) CKD 88".

The purpose for this thread is to ask for feedback/recommendations about Series parts suppliers in NZ.

I would happily go with Land Rover Spares based on DieselBoy's endorsement, but I notice they do not have an online catalogue.

The other options I've been looking at are classic4x4parts.co.nz and BJ's Auto in Dunedin. Don't mention Max Barnes or Canterbury Land Rover please, not interested ;)

Basically I'm looking to spend at least $4k for the first order, then at least the same again on my mates truck in a few months (109 5-door).

I'm looking for new - rear crossmember, front spring hangers, all panels for full bulkhead restore, door tops, axle rebuild kits, parabolic front springs... shitloads. Wellington CBD pickup.

Currently shopping around for a parts supplier who can offer the best deal. I would prefer to spend the money with NZ owned companies.Ready to order in the next week or two.

Any input or recommendations/input would be great :D

Cheers
Josh

Try Central 4WD in Queenstown as well, it was run by Charlie a Pom but he has sold it now, new guy knows his stuff still.

I just tell Rex at LR spares what I want and it turns up the next day (unless it has to come in on next stock order)

Too easy. if you're looking for ideas on what you need the britpart and bearmach catalogs are a good start

I fully endorse LR spares as well . Awesome service and Rex always goes out of his way to make sure the part you are after is right .

Lots of options on what quality of parts you are after ie aftermarket , OEM or Landrover Genuine .

Personally I won’t bolt anything britpart mechanical to my buss and prefer bearmach or LR genuine .

Thanks very much for the tips here guys, I will give Rex a call. I just put new ignition/seals/valve guides etc in the 2.25 petrol, its running like a sewing machine.

Defo mate, yep back in NZ at the moment, will PM. No doubt will be back chasing tail in Asia at some point in the not too distant future. Prospecting for a reliable Japanese import (?) is fun. For the time being the peace and quiet of home is great though :D :D
