Postby Jmorganwatt » Mon Nov 09, 2009 11:24 pm

Anyone out there know what toyo engines will bolt straight onto the bell housing in a 1987 LN61 Surf? old engine was a 2L 2.4 diesel Turb and i think the gearbox is an R series.

If it is the standard gearbox it will be either a w series or a g series box. a 3y will bolt up to the box if you change the bellhousing otherwise it is the 2.4 diesel. the other engine is the 3rz which again all you have to do is change the bell housing. hope that helps. i found my 3y bell housing from a g box fit a 2.4 w box perfectly.

i dont know but someone else might know. im pretty sure when they went to the 3.0l diesel they went over to the r series box but dont take my word for it. if your talking about the 3.0l petrol v6 it wont bolt straight up it goes onto the r series box. also if you look at the specs between the 3l v6 and the 3rz they have same horse power the v6 has very little more torque.

hope that helps.

just got a pm from Hyperlux1 this is what he said about the 3l

the 2.8 3L diesel engine is the same bolt pattern as the 2.4 2L so it will fit in , just check the sump and oil pick as the ln61 is independent front end , 2.8 usually beam axle
