Problems With Manual Conversion LN130 91 2l-te Surf.

Hey I am having problems with my lux,

1. Reversing lights wont come on when put in reverse.

2. Wont start, like it did when it was in drive.

3. Have extra plugs on loom for gearbox.

4. Have extra plug on right hand side of gearbox that no plug on loom will fit.

Not sure what model of manual gearbox I have but it was out of a truck that was one year older than mine.

Can anyone out there PLEASE help me get this truck moving ?

Plug on the side of gearbox will be for reverse lights. You'll have to find which two wires in the auto loom that you need to join to make them work. For starting you'll need to sort the neutral safety switch it'll be a relay somewhere.

When i converted mine to manual (ln65 with ln130 gearbox) it wouldnt start because of the nautral safety switch, switch is on the auto shifter and should have a wire running to it the basicly earths out when in nautral and sends signal to the ignition.
If its the same as mine i just cut the wire and put it to permanent earth.

Theres always extra plugs on the auto that wont be needed so i just cable tied them out of the way.

Find the reverse light switch on the auto and work out which plug is for it, find the one on the manual and if plugs arnt the same your have to wire other plug on or something - the extra plug on the gearbox could be it, there was a plug on my gearbox that had nothing going to it but took it to auto sparky and he said it wasnt needed but cant remember what it was for - it was a while ago now.

out of the left over plugs from the loom, 3 i think, go to the biggest 1, think it has 4 wires and 5 wires, join the 2 middle wires in the row of 4, that should start it.
And the rest of the loom is shit from the auto...

I'm thinking of doing the same thing as my auto trans is on the way out. My question is whether there is any other major hurdles, that I should be aware of? Is the clutch master cylinder a problem to get right?

Never done one but have heard you need to put auto into neutral before taking apart, this allows it to rev out without all the auto shite trying to interfere.

Is it not possible to do bolt in all OEM Gear?

Is it not possible to do bolt in all OEM Gear?

its changing the pedals that requires the cert.
the rest, provided its oem and bolts up unmodified, doesn't need a cert.

Can you elaborate on this a bit more ? Or paste the specific wording that rules a pedal swap as needing cert . I'm not arguing or disagreeing . Just seems dumb if you are bolting oem stuff in ?

If its all bolt on OEM stuff no cert is required.

If you start cutting holes in floor pan or making new support frames / mounts then cert is required.
Or you start pissing around with the brake system. Pedal included.

If in doubt talk to a cert man... or woman.

Gearbox substitution
 the OE gearbox cross-member has not been heated, cut, or welded; and
 the OE gearbox cross-member mounting to the OE body or chassis members is
unchanged; and
 no replacement gearbox cross-member is used; and
 the OE drive-shaft(s) remain and is un-modified; and
 no substantial modifications have occurred to the floor or gearbox tunnel area, other
than provision for gear-shift mechanism; and
the braking system is not modified or changed, including the brake pedal.

the catch is swapping out the brake pedal to fit the manual brake pedal to allow room for the clutch pedal.

if in doubt run it past the local cert guy.

Ah... that would be why I still have the wider auto brake pedal in the 80 :-)

Pretty sure I came into issues with 4x4 system being a prick to get working again, from the auto setup to the manual setup, just wiring was way different, and the surfs with their add system requires the wiring to be right

Surely that is intended to mean don't cut down or modify the original one .
If you bolt in an oem manual one Noone is going to care

In the same way every one swaps an oem auto drive shaft and cross member for the manual eqiilivents
