Winding up front torsion bars kzn130

Postby Bj70swb » Sun Dec 23, 2012 5:19 pm

Hi,

When winding up the torsion bars on a kzn130 surf, do you just raise the front end and wind the bolts clockwise until the desired height is reached?

Is it worth getting chunkier aftermarket torisons as well?

Thanks.

Yes, unless the bolts run out of adjustment. Then you need to re-index them. I'd say unless you're into jumping it a lot, the stock bars will be ok.

How do you re-index them?

I just want to level the truck out, wouldn't be doing anything to rough on them..

Also make sure when you adjust them you do jack the car up or the bolts will stretch, also be sure to clean/lube then up, or theyll jam up.

Aftermarket torsions are good, but only really nesc if your putting a bar and winch on. they have a tendancy to "porpoise" through/into things.

If it has a front sway bar disconect it so that you get both sides the same. The sway bar will try and even everything out which can lead to some handling issues

Be aware that winding the torsion bars up too far reduces your wheel/ suspension down travel, and puts greater stress on your cv's
