Rust Prevention/treatment

Post by Sheepy »

Hey all

I recently played in the salt water and thought I had best have a look under the old girl for rust, and unsurprisingly, there wqas some liught surfacerust on the diff, and suspension components and other things that had paint chips etc. So I water blasted everything, and sprayed CRC Proseal under the wheel arches, and rust killed the surface rust on the chassis, and hit it with Zinc Black paint and a coating of Lanocoat. Lastly I ran the hose in the chassis rails till the water ran clear (was pretty brown).

My question is what can I do to the chassis to protect it, specifically inside the rails, and what else could I do to help protect the body. Is the salt away type products worth purchasing?

Best solution by far=stay away from salt water and wash truck thoroughly after going on the beach.

Yeah stay away from saltwater :D Spraying lots of fish oil inside the chassis may help too

A mix of cavity wax and Fisholene sprayed all throughout the chassis rails and underside of truck every 6 months or so works a treat but yeah best you steer clear of that salt water
