2017 Hilux, What does the power button do?

Postby gary_in_nz » Thu Mar 09, 2017 11:46 pm

Work must making some money as they have scored a couple new hilux's. Was wondering what the power button next to the gear stick does? Is that a bit of over boost function or something?

Ha ha good luck .

All it does is change the shift points in the auto .
If your driving it like s lunatic round some corners it will make it rev out more before shifting and kick down earlier

Dunno what the button officially does, but in real world driving it turns them into absolute mutts to drive lol. The gentler you are on the accelerator the faster they rev... stick your foot flat and they bog down like your in too higher gear.
Traction control system has a nervous breakdown every time you turn a corner on gravel, can't imagine them being much good for work/farm

I think Mr Toymota maybe missed the mark this time round

Bring back Barry

Had a quick play at work this evening, held foot at 1500rpm in second, pressed power, truck accelerates to 4000rpm without any depressing of the accelerator. Seems its set up for aggressive driving with better throttle response being a fly by wire.

Actually quite impressed with the spec level of the gear included in the base model.
