long range fuel tank KZJ78?

Postby peter_Kzj78 » Wed Sep 13, 2017 6:12 pm

hi everybody,
has anybody ever seen such thing or made his own?
I guess in NZ long range is not really the issue but the KZJ78 is very exotic in Europe so no help here.
My last Sahara trip in April made me think of a fuel tank extension. Friend with his 80 and 140liters made me quite jelaous, not only the capacity but the mighty eighty 24V used like 20 liters while I was close to 30. on a 400km dune trip I carried 2 jerry cans and almost used them all up.
cheers
Peter

Forgive my ignorance as i am not a toyota man, but i used to have a lwb pajero that had twin tanks, the standard one in the rear that held 80 litres and the second from an L200 ute retro fitted between the left chassi rail and drive shaft (65L).

they were linked via a solenoid and even had a lift pump with a DPDT switch that also changed sender inputs to the dash cluster.

just an idea

I have heard complaints about some long range tanks fitted to cruisers in aussie where when the fuel level starts to get lower, fuel starvation occurs on inclines (climbing dunes etc) as the tanks are not baffled.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

thank you guys,
options 1) and 3) are for 78 HZJ which is much different from KZJ but there is one option 2) ARB for HZJ76 which comes closest to the KZJ78 design. will look into...

cheers
Peter
