Standard 80 series
Standard 80 series
So i need some advice on wheel sizing, i am pretty keen on some 33 12.5 size tyres but unsure what best offset for standard height? I have a 95 vx unsure what size rims also.. any help be much appreciated.. or can i go bigger than 33? i would rather not have to change and adjust too much other stuff to make them fit if possible thabks in advance

Re: Standard 80 series
I have a standard VX LTD on 33s with about a 0 offset rim. It has not been offroad yet so dont know if it will rub but seems to be enough room for a bit of movement and will tuck up quite nicely.
Someone will need to clarify rim size for you but some have bigger brakes so will need 16" rims, I believe most 80 series after 94 will have the upgraded brakes.

Re: Standard 80 series
As said above you will have to run 16" rims.
You can stick to factory ones or if you are looking at aftermarket steelies then you can go ti a 16x8" with a negative 28 offset.
Tyres you can run the 285/75r16 or the 305/70r16.
You can do all of this on a standard height 80.
Just to wet your appetite and knock all the supposed experts out there , I have fitted 35/12.50r15" tyres to 15x8 negative 22 offset rims on a standard height 80 with no rubbing at full flex
Hope all this helps.
Cheers

p.s. go to specsavers
As previously mentioned, the 15s wont fit over your calipers, but hey, by all means ignore the advice you were given when you asked for it and head off and do your own thing.
It may cost you a lot of money but thats fine coz you seem to know what you are doing

Re: Standard 80 series
Anyhow, its just minor clearancing. Its nothing to worry about. Overloading the whole braking system with the big wheels/tyres should be more of a worry. There is always a compromise
But you are not going to compromise the caliper by removing a small amount of material from the casting. There is shitloads of material to work with and there is no logical pathway to this compromising its ability to do its job. You could take the calipers to a machine shop and have them clearanced and finished really cleanly. Its no different to removing a small amount of case material when installing lower transfer gears.
Then you have a lot more options for another set of cheap road tyres etc
