Sj spring advice

Postby fyc 4wd » Thu Dec 18, 2014 4:25 pm

Hi guys looking for some sound advice as what to do with my dusty old springs on my 413 ute.
At the moment it has the original springs and the aren't cutting it the fronts are really sad, it has got a calmini 2 inch shackle lift aswell.
Is it worth doing a ruf? I don't really want to be re welding the spring mounts could I just get 2 inch lifed new springs for the rear and get new stock hight rears and use the shackles??or would it just be better to just ome 2 inch life's springs and scrap the shackles? Sorry for the novel

lots of options mate depends what you want out of the truck, probably best to work out your budget and how much money and time is worth spending on it first and work backwards from there :D you can easily spend more than the value of the vehicle when it comes to new replacement suspension, I'm guessing your probably slanted more towards an economic cost effective upgrade :D

That is a very good point, well I just would like to get abit better ride quality and abit more flex without lifting it to the heavens, it's got longer shocks in it alleyway and all new bushes, I don't mind buying new springs ect just would rather get it right the first time

Cheers Aston

I used EFS springs in my samurai, worked pretty well for the money.

Did you just use them as usual? As in front in front and the rears in the back, I found some max tracks for 500 for all 4 are they shit?

I've had EFS and maxitracs in sj's. EFS were far better. EFS rears were flexier and the fronts actually matched the rears for height without too much lean. Maxis leaned really bad with the springs on the correct sides and the front was considerably lower.

They still lean. Have some in a beater currently and they lean heaps. Are maybe 12 months old and have done it since new.

How to do RUF:http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4269&hilit=stealth+ruf[/quote]
I just used springs as per normal, RUF is supposed to improve ride/flex quite a bit over standard length springs.

Have seen a few trucks with the ruf mod all slightly different with how the parts were fabricated. Ruf would need a cert i'd expect for a roadie too.
Theres a few kits about though ie

ZOR have always been awesome to deal with. Low range also carry a slightly different kit from memory.
