change wheels on v6 to 15" how?

Postby emason » Mon Apr 06, 2015 7:53 pm

Hi I have a suzuki v6 escudo 96. I want to change the wheels to 15" and the tyres to 31" but the calipers are too big in the front. What is the best way to get around this? Thanks emily

Stay with 16's and fit 265/70/16 this will equal 31 inch and you can leave the calipers alone

Dont quite think grinding your calipers is classed as legal.
Now what i mean.

Also a down side to grinding is that there is only minimal clearance and tends to pick up stone or pepples that will end up getting jambed.

You wouldn't safely be able to grind off enough to clear 15s anyway. Another option is to swap the smaller rotors/calipers from a 1600 escudo onto your truck, this would legally require a cert but all parts are bolt on and unless the person looking at it knew they don't fit 15's standard I doubt it would be picked up.

Yes ive talked to mudbits about changing them over to 1600 they say it leaves a 20mm gap inbetween the caliper and the bolting up? Thought it was a bit strange considering it works fine swapping the other way around.

Oh yeah forgot that bit you need to swap the knuckles over as well, you can see the difference in the pics in this link:http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=43065&hilit=sv620

1600 knuckles won't work. Been there tryed that.
Puts the steering geometry all out of wack.

Compare the knuckles and you'll see what I mean.

It's been done before, Hien did it to his V6 a few years back. Have a search around the forum as I think he wrote it up. 245/75/16 is 30.5" in diameter and will fit with some guard work and bumpstop spacing if you can't get the other ones to fit.
