Tumor, these are a good example of a tyre which may suit considering you're looking at running something as aggressive as a Silverstone.

This was a size that I personally would go for and UBZ also recommended (who knows a lot more about Zooks than I do).


Is there a reason for the 32x9.50 over the 31x9.50?

You get a tiny bit more height but mainly availability. A narrow 32" is much more common

I have been meaning to post this problem for a while but haven't gotten around to it: It has a very rough idle and when cold you can't just leave it, you have to have the choke out a bit. Does anyone know what this is? And would a carb rebuild fix this?

a 32x9.5 or 235/85/16 are available at reasonable prices locally where as 31x9.5 are not a common size .
A narrower tyre is easier to turn for the Zuk and dosent eat into your turning circle .

Have you got a copy of the 413 FSM ? It will explained how to set the carb / choke up and set the float level etc .
Older carbs often leak around to the butterfly shaft or throttle body bolts . Check for leaks with a can of engine start . Most likely its leaking , dirty and/or needs a rebuild.

Will it affect your turning circle with offset rims?

What do people think of spring over axle conversion?
Or...... Rear up front? And what is actually involved in converting the front to accept a rear leaf? I have heard/read that it give decent flex, is this true?

my 4wd is not a truck

With the transfer case, I have decided to go with the standard 410 case for now. When I have the time/money to rocklobster it I will do so ASAP. I know a few people will disagree with this decision, but I don't want the car non-workable for too long. And because I wont be able to spend every weekend playing around with it :cry: (coz of schoolwork).

I have been looking at rebuild kits for it, and to what I have found, there is just a rebuild kit for both the 413 and 410 case. Can people please LMK if this is right/wrong?

Little bit of an update.

I have decided not to go with the Silverstones after all. Been reading through some tyre threads on here and have heard they wear really fast; but Simexs have really good wear (Unfortunately they are out of my financial reach........). I would also have to have an on-road set of tyre because with such an aggressive tread I can only imagine the wear no matter the brand.

So I have decided to go with a less aggressive MT. Something like the Maxxis Bighorn MT762 or MT764. On other websites 97% of people running the 762 have been really happy and some have gone onto their third set of 762s.

I like the more aggressive nature of the 764, but have read on here that they wear faster than the 762. Why might this be? Surely they can't been too much different in design apart from tread pattern. I have a friend who's dad is a Maxxis dealer here in Dunedin so getting either of them wouldn't be a problem.

you have just answered your own question. more aggressive = more void less rubber = less rubber on road.

unless the construction is different, both same ply though.

I have had 764s and would buy again.

Just got an email from TradeMe.
32x9.50/16 Super Swamper TSLs have just been re-listed for 1k. If I can find about that much in a week I'll get them. Even after reading Redsuki saying that they probably arent the best for terrain in NZ.

LMK. What would you guys do? Spend that much on 4 fairly new tyres or spend about $450-$500 more on new tyres

Really depends on whether you want that aggressiver (that a word??) tyre. I mentioned it because at the time you were looking at Silverstones and these are also a extreme mud tyre. Now that you're looking at 764s I'd be tempted to maybe stick with the 764s, just in a 235/85R16 size.... comes down to what you're gonna be mainly driving tho

Haha, nope they arrived today. Very pleased thanks! Thought they had grey primer on them and that I'd end up painting them myself, but nope, already done :D won't bother changing it.... looks good. Now I need some muddies to wrap around them

Now that my exams are over with, as well as school for the year for me, I am now able to work and make some money! :P :D :D 8)

Still cant decide between 31x10.5R15s or 30x9.50R15s........ After talking to my cousin about the offset rims I have decided to go with these http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=1395 Means it will be easier to keep it legal (because of the lesser offset). And I have found like zukmeista said that 16" rims with the 5/139.7 stud pattern is really hard to find, in fact I haven't found any.....

What tyre size SJs came with from standard? Because if 30s are quite a bit bigger I might even go with them.

Got a cosmetic idea up me sleeve to do something with the rims..... secret at the moment, I'll post a pick once I've brought them. :twisted:

Anyone got any comments on ProComp shocks? Looking at these http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/suzuki-off-road-parts/samurai/suspension-parts/revision-pro-comp-es3000-shock-absorber-lifetime-warranty-best-price-revision.html.

And what is the highest spring lift I can go without having to play with driveshaft bits, etc?

Factory tyre size is 205/70R15, about 26". I would suggest 7' wide rims as they hold the bead better at low pressures especially if running the narrower 30x9.5s

4wdbits only sells the 15x7 with a +13mm offset. Is there any other companies out there that sell steel rims?
