Having problems with the factory rear diff lock not engaging on my 1992 swb 3.0 litre V6 Pajero.

Might have to pull the diff to bits to find what the problem is and fix.

Does anyone have a pdf manual covering the rear diff they can please email me?
Thanks.

Is the compressor running when you switch it on?

does the light on the dash go solid when you lock the diff?

I have checked the compressor, and also taken off the rubber tubing where it connects to the diff inlet and it is pumping air fine.

The light does go solid on showing diff to be locked on the dash.

I have tested the drive on a soft bank and only 1 rear wheel is turning, as it was during our last trip on Sunday.

Have you changed the oil? I think you will find if the light is going solid the diff is locking fine but there are no longer any teeth on it, it is a known weak point on the locker, this is what came out in my diff oil.....

Mmmmm, I suspected as much. Will drain the diff oil tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for that.

Are the parts still available to repair the diff?

I asked a question about a factory lock diff on TM, which is below, and the guys answer. Will this diff with same ratios fit my Pajero?

Hi, do you have a rear diff with factory locker for a 1992 3.0 litre V6 manual? Trans/axle code is; V5MT1 4875.

Hi, I have a diff out of a 4D56 2.5 turbo diesel which is also 4875.

Yep, that diff will bolt straight in.

As for parts, I didn't even try due to price but I seem to recall only being able to buy the whole diff centre and for that price you'd get an arb.
