Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Haven't done much readin on the subject and maybe completely wrong, but....
Out of interest, could you take all the complexity out of the trans and make it a non-clutch full manual trans?
Apart from the OD button, the shift into other gears is controlled via cable and postion of the shifter, right?
I won't mind this myself, pretty much use it as a manual anyway.

Yeah that link juz put up is a system to do that...Only problem is the funds have been tighten up big time on project so back to trying to do it all on the cheap, the wiring i sorted today got it pretty well sorted thought...The megatuner said the 5v TPS only reaches 5v on full throttle an suggested what he does is to just run a constant 5v feed into trans sensor instead of the variable resistance sensor (potentiometer)... That will mean trans will shift like its half throttle (as it is originally a 10v at full throttle) all the time which suits me as i have O/D and 2nd / 1st if i want to get some power out of it.

Hmmmm doesn't look like much to that unit. should be able to reverse engineer it.
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Can't pm photos it seems ? ?
Hows this for suitability?
Its got 6 wires black,blue/red,blue,blue/yellow,white and black/blue.
Not sure what wires what tho
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
ill make that work thanks Slide,
Well update on the project, the base tune i have is running very rich and fouls the plugs if left idling to long but will do for now looking at driving it to Auckland for a tune as its only 2 hours away. Contacted cert man and he said try get a WOF to check its safe then ill be allowed to drive it into town to cert.
WOF wasn't the best but when are they ever . Need new cross rod as pitman arm balljoints buggered and TRE'S, .The WOF also found worn bushes, Left head light on low beam does not work (contacts in switch), handbrake light staying on, front brake pads are near non existent and last even got me for haven no "left number plate light"...He must been having bad day
So needless to say the 2WD drag link as they called it was ordered today with two inner Navara TRE's and two new Terrano TRE's. Will hopefully fit this up this weekend and fabricate the idle arm brace. That should hopefully keep steering happy for a while.

Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Find a steering box at the same time and fit that as well. No need for a brace then

On its way dude. Hopefully it gets to you for the weekend. More to keep you busy then

Awesome thanks again, Pm me your details an ill sort ya out.
Quick update, machined and tapped the steering adjuster nuts so 2wd steering is complete thanks for all the info on it, took little over an hour to complete swap and got the parts for awesome price, have not set wheel alignment though as work is taking my spare time. My front outer sway bar bushes with the bolt through them were also non existent, half the bolt had rubbed through so getting that sorted also. Hopefully handling of the truck is improved a bit.
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Well the project is now nearing an end...
It went to get cert last week and all is good only thing needed is a 50mm x 5mm minimum flat bar drive shaft loop (apparently all drive shafts need this when engine conversion with 4x m10bolts) so that is easy job to bend up and bolts onto one of the chassis cross rails nicely.
The o2 sensor used to test gases from cert guy showed the truck was at 11.8% o2 at idle when it should of been around 14% so it is running as rich as shit and costed $30 to do 60 km ..i thought my bros 265 Hemi pacer with triple webbers was hungry. Anyway quick email to megatuner and plugged laptop in and brought fuel back 6% so should be allot better.
Engine running good considering small tuning issues and small 12 inch slim line fan seems to keep temp under control at lights, although heater may be needed when playing in the sand.
The exhaust system is great, it is not to loud when cruising along and doesn't give that deafening drone when low revs under load, yet still holds very good undeniable RB note when revving. due to 3inch system running right through it has to be quite close to passenger floor to clear front drive shaft so passenger does get free feet warmer which will be great in winter but not so fun in summer .
Truck be fully road worthy end of next week so 4x4 videos will follow

Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Awesome, looking foward to seeing videos, where are you going to test it out?
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
not sure yet to be honest, be light stuff to get a feel for it probably out behind Pouto light house or a place out north east called "the farm"...Then if she holds out all well want to trip down to woodhill and take the bikes also and make a weekend of it

Out past Oakura? Just been out there, check last weekend's "weekend acheivements", second page.
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
looks awesome ill be keen to tag along if you want next time you head out...man it looks so dry compared to last time i was out there which was last summer...spent over 30 mins trying to climb hill on my 2 stroke with crappy rear tyre an wild power band...i passed around 4-5 bikes that fell victim to the river crossing also as it was waist deep in some parts...Awesome fun out there though we have hired batch near by over the summer so will def be going back
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Yeah it was pretty dry, still plenty of swamp to play in if that's your sort of thing . Got a few plans over the next week or two, depending how it goes I could possibly go for another play.
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Hows this thing going now? ready for the SAS yet?

Hi guys!i am new to this forum and also to the 4wd vehicles
I am looking into buying a nissan terrano 2003 model 2.7 td,and swap the engine with my nissan skyline r33 witch i already own.the engine has lots of extras and develops at 0.9 bars 349 whp and 386 whp at 1.3 bars.i want to make this project to have a big and powerfull car also
Is there any tips that you can learn me,did you hear somebody doing this kind of swap?tried a search on google but nothing came out..

Shiiieeeeet this is a cool conversion! so jealous!!
Re: RB25Det Nissan Terrano
Hey guys, to start with hope everyone has been keeping well, sorry to relive a old post but thought id give an overdue update on this project. As most of you know i left for Australia not long after this build so the truck sat in the shed waiting for my return.
Fast forward a couple of years and i'm home and have decided to give the engine a freshen up as it never ran 100% (suspected coil pack failure because of the top mount intercooler allowing water into coils) and go through the entire build and give it a general tidy up. So far the engine has been stripped down and rebuilt with the crank collar modification, heads had machining and the block has been honed with new rings and ACL bearings. I rewired the entire engine with the standard ECU and ditch the megasquirt to a much higher standard and are just about ready to reassemble and get her up and running over Christmas.
My overall thoughts on the build are still positive, she had plenty of power even with the teething engine problems and over fueling. The top mount wasn't the best of idea so have gone standard size and mounted it up front on the passenger side and will block the bonnet scoop. The TD27 torque converter is on the heavy side and would be a lot better to re-spline the rb25det torque converter and use that instead (will do later down the track). The transmission is still a concern but i cant really comment until i get some more KMs on it but i have a Rb20det auto which i will bolt the transfer onto if it lets go.
The long overdue video of this in action will be up as soon as its on the road again.
