Sway bar bushes - hard to find for Terrano..

Postby danielbeek » Tue Oct 15, 2013 10:35 pm

Hi guys,

So one of my chassis-sway bar bushes (the ones under clamp saddles) was found to be sliding freely along the sway bay the other day, which suggested to me it's time to replace them....
Went to BNT, and they don't have even a close match in the Whiteline range. Looked at Nolathane, and same deal there.
They all seem way too short, as in ends wont come out from under the clamp.
Also very few options in ID I need. My sway bar measures in at 26mm, so I guess I need 25-26mm ID, as they should allow rotation of bar?
Where have others bought theirs? What brand and price if you remember?

Also, I've seen mention of a 24mm diameter sway bar on Terranos - can anyone confirm these exist, and on what models? Rather go thinner if I can.

Cheers.

Rear swaybar D bushes are available from nolathane, part no is 42305. Repco or bnt should be able to get them in for you.

I got all mine from Chamberlains in Christchurch, no issues there.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Sorry guys, dammit, should have mentioned I was talking about the front sway bar! Yeah, rear ones seem easy enough to get - the big brands have listings for them.

Wish I could help, but ditched sway bars long ago
I do remember that they were hard to get in nolathane, so fitted new OEM rubber ones. Rear one kept on breaking link rods or tearing them out of the chassis
Ahhh, the good old days

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

List two options, 20 and 23mm swaybar.
I've had the same, the flange tears on bush, then it creeps along swaybar.
If you turn it around it'll probably stay put (could even glue it with silicon?)
Swaybars are out at moment, but a bit too much bodyroll for my likings as a dailydriver. (original shocks probably don't help here   )

So I've ended up ordering some genuine ones from a mate at Nissan. He found out the 94-95 Terrano widebody used a different bush to the earlier and non-wide Terranos....
Can confirm my front SB is 26mm, and the rear is 25mm. May still look at buying lighter gauge ones from an earlier rano at some stage for the extra flex they should give.
