D21 Fuel Tank

Postby kiwinoz » Wed Apr 01, 2015 8:44 pm

Guys,
I have seen somewhere a 90L tank from a Patrol might fit in a D21. But not sure what model.
Has anyone done this? And if they hang a bit lower, but the wagon has a body lift, could the tank be mounted a little higher.

Cheers

ps: I tried searching

erm....what are you feeding...a big block mopar engine?

Didn't think one could travel that far in this country with out travelling past a gas station somewhere.

best bet is employ a combination of D21 and R20 tanks with a scavenger pump feeding the main tank... one between the chassi rail and drive shaft and the other between the chassi rails under just infront of the tow bar.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

its the 1991 on y60. if ya after the lager tank think its 95 lt ? I think. I went to do this ages ago with a 88 safari but its the same size and shape so did not bother, until a latter one is found. bolts in hangs down 40mm ish by rough measurements. stock wd21 80lts fuel gauge reads empty about 65lt lol. its kind of a novelty as a wee d21 is pity good on diesel and it gets a beating in in the ruff stuff, lift the tank if you do decide to it. for 15 lt its a bit of messing around.

thinking about it a d21 is the navara so will have the tank down one side of chaise rail and a spear wheel under tray, so a y60 patrol/safari is between the chaise rails at back so it will be a custom fit. im not sure nz is long enough to use this much fule. what engine ya have ?

Yeah I read about this mod on the 4wdaction.com.au forum. It would be cool for expeditions. Beats carrying extra fuel inside the vehicle if youve ditched the horrendously heavy spare tire carrier.

One of those big arse tanks from a LWB petrol patrol would be the shizz.
