Broken bit, terrano auto front hub

Postby archieterrano » Mon Nov 16, 2015 8:33 pm

On the way from work I noticed a funny noise coming from the RHS front wheel.
Took auto hub off and the ring that faces into the wheel bearing area broken with its small teeth muched and the spring destroyed and a bit buried
inside the auto hub "boss". Added a pic

Removed what I could, and I won't engage 4WD until I fix it.

Went off roading up to lake sumner 3 weeks ago to go fishing and engaged 4WD for a bit near Loch Katrine. Didn't notice anything then.

Any idea of what can cause this? The grease inside was black and needed sorting.

Anyone know of a spare auto hub for a 93 Terrano, 27 spline model? PM me!
I'm about to upgrade and just want to get this sorted with the least amount of pain possible.

With an open front diff the power will take the path of least resistance, hence a damaged hub that spins freely with no resistance is where the power goes so the working hub sits there doing nothing.

Should be able to get an auto hub for 20 at a wrecker or for someone on here.

What are you upgrading to?
TOYOTA - The Official Vehicle of ISIS!
And makers of the '92 Camry, where you got your first backseat handjob.

I have a pair of hubs under the workbench. I will check the splines when I get home tonight.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.
