Roof rack / brackets for high roof Nissan Safari

Postby gav » Tue Nov 17, 2015 8:24 pm

Does anyone know anywhere in Christchurch I could source some brackets that would be compatible with this roof rack for my high roof Nissan Safari?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=979738055

The seller doesn't have brackets tall enough but states "you can buy pretty much any brackets; the roof rack has the flat mounting surfaces at the bottom and it's very universal fit".

I've enquired at Fully Equipped on Fitzgerald Ave but they couldn't help.

Alternatively, if anyone knows of anything similar on the market preferably at a similar price, about $770 with shipping, ready to go for a high roof I'd also be keen to hear.

Thanks in advance for any useful info - cheers.

I have seen the basic comercial alloy roof racks for ladders etc with gutters mounts on high roof vans.
Or if he states you can get brackets ask him where

I had asked him where I could source some compatible brackets but he never got back to me on that one.

Might be worth asking mcc they do same style roof racks but might be more helpful with brackets to suit high roof.

Apparently they have brackets to fit them on a high roof so thanks again for the lead - much appreciated!

Back on a search again. Apparently they don't have brackets after all ready to go.

I wonder if I can Rhino-Rack 280mm legs and adapt the fitting to the non-Rhino-Rack trays available. The 280mm seem to be the right height for my truck.

I've had 2 sets of generic el cheapo racks off tardme that fitted Safari/Patrol gutters.
I think I still have a set in the garage. I can't remember if I had them on my high roof, but there wouldn't be much in it make em taller. See what's on there in Chch and go view some to see if they fit, then you'll know exactly what you're looking for.

Alternatively a thirsty engineer might be able to whip a few up easily enough :D

Cheers Taz. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone stocking them in Chch yet. I get the impression they're all shipped down from Auckland to order.

But good to know that it shouldn't be too hard to adapt one. Might just buy one then try and get the adaption done once committed - should provide the extra incentive to get it sorted :P

Had a quick look for you and I'd wager a chocolate fush these will fit mount wise, and they look like they might even be tall enough too ;)

You could put the basket thingo on top (personally I'd want 3) or get fancy and adjust them to bolt straight to it.

Hey, thanks for that - much appreciated. Bit on the short side though. Had a measure and probably need brackets of 280mm to get over the high roof from the gutters.
