Terrano Gearbox swap

Postby hamboy » Thu Jan 28, 2016 9:10 pm

Hey guys, I'm looking at swapping out the FS5W71C in my D21 for a FS5R30A from a R50. Will the older transfer case bolt on to the later box?

Dont quote me but I dont think the 71c transfer will work. The R30A uses the transfer with much bigger transfer chain. Dont quote me but I think a transfer case from a V6 manual box will fit (same R30 transmission, just bigger ratios). Theyre all the same TX10 transfer though. Confusing.

You'll love the big box, its such a strong unit for the size/weight.

Transfer from a 97 onwards mistral would work with r50, but if its the r3m-r model it will also have a viscous centre coupling as well.

Whats r50? Are you referring to the Patrol gearbox or the R50 model Pathfinder?
Neither are relevant to this thread

So he wants to put a r50 box in a d21 lax. That how I've read it.

And two answer your question no. And r3m-r definitely not.

I have a complete manual conversion for an R50. Everything included plus box has been rebuilt.

It will be as no QD32eti terranos came out manual. The box will fit a QD but you will need a different flywheel.
