Postby jeremy4x4 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 11:55 pm

Hey guys I'm looking at lifting my lwb safari 4 inches very soon I have the shocks and springs I was wanting to know what else I need to complete the lift setup, extended brake lines etc

Also on the hunt for turbo manifold aswell if anyone knows what direction to point me in, southland based.

Definitely extend brake lines, Panhard rod/s will want adjusting....has been so long since I did mine I can't remember if I had to shorten it or lengthen it. Steering wheel will go out of whack, just adjust your steering rod ends to correct it.

You may need gearbox spacers for the vibrations...being lwb they not usually as bad as a swb.

If you've still got your factory rear Panhard then it's a perfect time to make up another one out of heavy steam pipe (similar OD but thicker wall) at the right length to match the lift.

when I lifted my swb the truck was 25mm to one side, the + $600 for new pan hard are never mentioned in lifting a safari,
must be the surprise factor :D
the $600 just a guess maybe more for good adjustable panhards.

Factory steering link is fixed lenght as well so will need to buy an adjustable link.
So add to your list
Fore and aft panhards
Steering link
Brake lines
Sway bars links fore and aft (if running sway bars)
A shed load of rear control arm bushes (you will chew them out :x )
Either go dropbox for control arms or offset diff bushes to correct caster

Oh plus lvv cert

Just to collate a starter list....

go for drop boxes on the front of centre bushes correct the caster , do nothing to help the front axle move leaves then stiff as a board

Put shocks and springs in and take it for cert and they will tell you what else needs doing. I got away without needing panhards done with a 4' lift on my LWB GU - despite everything I read saying I would have to replace them. Brake lines are definitely a good idea however especially if you plan on getting more wheel travel out of your new setup.

Also sway bar links may struggle to reach but you will find that out pretty quickly anyway
