well, have you looked at his plate? look MIIIIGHTY kiwi to me.

EDIT: Auckland...

I'm after a 4wd, preferably a 70 series cruiser, hilux, navara, or surf. I've been traulling through trademe for a fair while now so I thought I'd post up here.
Something that is in good condition and needs no to minimal work and is within a few hours of
Auckland.
Ideally a diesel is what I want but will consider anything.
Price range would be around the $6000 mark.
Let me know what you've got to offer.

Hi everyone, I'm Josh. Been 4wding 10+ years now, grew up playing with Land Rovers... on my 3rd D21 Nissan now (TD27, VG30i, and now TD27T). My original intention was to get an MK or GQ Patrol, but I've really come to love the design and off road suitability of the WD21.

Here is my current truck. I want to make her purpose built, so started w/ a bare metal paint job in Dune Beige.

1988 Terrano, Atlas blacktop engine w/ stock turbo, recon'd 5-speed, 4.88 gears, stripped interior w/ bench seat, Superlift UCA front suspension lift, JGC rear lift, Rancho 5000 lift shocks, manual hubs. Weighs 1750kg w/ quarter tank of diesel.

Traction upgrades I am currently working on:
-Aussie locker waiting to be installed in the C200 rear diff
-Front diff upgrade to beefcurtain R200 type, diff drop kit, then install ARB locker I have
-33x10.5 MTs on factory lego wheels when I can afford

Other tasks I am collecting parts for
-2wd steering system using Moog/555 heavy duty parts
-Idler arm delete/dummy box mod
-Heavy duty balljoints
-4 door torsion bars (stiffer spring rate)

I know it seems weird to be getting tyres last, but I'm really focussing on mechanicals and building this one up properly first. Plus, its hard to find 33x10.5x15 MTs unless you want to drop $450 a tyre! I'll be on the lookout for a used set of BFG first generation MTs I think...

Anyway enough crapping on, thought I would say hi and introduce myself

I saw it for sale not long ago. Nice looking truck.
Some people would laugh at over capitalizing a D21.
I think they are worth it 8)
Welcome and thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

i think we should start up a show us your terrano thread,

im glad to see they are popular, they are well worth every cent ya spend on them, wether it be engine ubgrades, swaping engine for a qd32 or rb25det, putting a safari axle under the front or just buying new tyres for them...

but anyway, welcome to the site, hope you enjoy.

Yes just a bloody JAFA haha. It needed cleaning :( (neighbors not too pleased with the piles of muck left below it after some rain). Don't worry though she will once again be as dirty as a $2 hooker, very SOON.

And there is a website where you can buy tyres direct from the US, tirerack.com, may work out cheaper?

Haha I thought you may had been watching that one... well I was over in the US, had a job possibility which would have meant I'd be there for 1-2 years. That fell through though, which is lucky in many ways. I was so hesitant to list the truck.

Yes I agree w you guys, worth every penny. With all those mods I mentioned (excluding tyres but including purchase price), its cost me less than 7k. Which for a fully locked, properly lifted custom truck w a new turbo motor, I think is pretty good.

I just like the D21 because they're cool looking, well thought out and durable. Plus there is lots of scope for mods. Sibainmuds truck(s) is a good example.

Loving the dump pipe/intercooler/QD32 manifold mods you guys have done. Of course, thats on the list too.

Thanks for the link to tirerack zukmeista, may be an option. Probly best to go through a freight forwarding company and put them on a boat??

Welcome to the group Josh, its interesting to see other Terrano enthusiast's approach to modding them for ideas.

As for the tyres its pays to ring around which many people fail to do, although my maxxis bighorns are only 31x10.5 i got 4 new tyres on 4 new ROH steelie rims (not the cheaper ones you cant balance and love to buckle) for $1100 balanced and fitted. I see people trying to sell these second hand for $1400+...ring around and ask around, tyre mark up is insane. In saying that others are probably in the know to get cheaper again

Is that the one you've posted up a build thread on the Oldschool forums? Tis a nice example of a classic Patrol!
