YD25 EGR fail.

Recently a 2008 Navara presented itself at my local garage.YD25, 170,000km. Symptoms were, it was driving then just slowly died, would not run. Diagnostics revealed no fault code logged.
Googling revealed that the EGR system has a motor with a flap on it, and this can come lose. Sure enough, the flap had broken off its rod. The broken flap was removed, and a blanking plate put in, to stop the exhaust gases. Looked to be a fair bit of gunge in that inlet manifold.
I said "make sure you clean the airflow meter", which proved to be filthy. So the ute was returned to owner running really well, which was a major relief to them, as they had already spent 5 grand on it previously, after the timing chain broke. Apparently the timing chain is equivalent to a bicycle chain. Not an impressive motor really, given how good the nissan diesels used to be...
