Advice on 3.2 Regulus

Postby altair » Fri Aug 04, 2017 9:58 pm

What are these like? Wanting a tow wagon with hi/low for getting out of sometimes wet paddocks. Looking at a 3.2 diesel tomorrow.
Anything to look for on these in particular, weak spots?
Also it has no tow bar, does it have to be a "Regulus" towbar, or would an R50 Terrano bolt straight on?
Also are these any higher (as in headroom etc) than a standard Terrano?
Cheers guys.

good power. very reliable motor. keep trans serviced. strong diff. add a trans cooler if towing. only downside is that they are "ETi" which means that the diesel injector pump is expensive to repair when it wears or faults. Budget $3k for a complete job. But who knows when or if it will fail , it may not. just be aware. tell tail signs of pump starting to fail is any hesitation or gaps in the rev range etc.

Thanks for that, bought it yesterday, being delivered during week. Dealer trade in which was far too good to send to Turners they reckon.
Immaculate 4wd, never had a towbar fitted, one NZ owner, 220kms. Drives pretty good, comfy, no smoke. Will get trans flushed, has had a complete service including all belts last week. Plus its not one of the gay ones with body kits and huge spoilers.
Comes with a years full mechaanical warranty, 6K from a dealer..I just went this way as the dealers prices are pretty good now, have some comeback, plus its been serviced, wofd, and I don't have to drive the country looking.

Out of interest, will a towbar from an R50 Terrano fit? It has the spare wheel underneath at the back.
Cheers

The terrano tow bar should be the same. They do have 2 different tow bars one with wheel under and one with the tyre on the back.
