WD21 Terrano Air con

Postby Kizuki » Sun Dec 31, 2017 7:05 am

Where is the air con relay in a 93 Terrano? The air con has stopped working but..
- Green light in switch turns on
- Compressor not clutching up but I can power up the compressor by applying power to the clutch wire
- Rev up vacuum solenoid not working but will work if I apply direct power to it also.
- Main Aircon power relay found at R/side inner guard near fire wall and working ok

I'm thinking a 2nd relay somewhere at fault,, any other ideas

I'm not familiar with this particular vehicle, but there more than likely will be a refrigerant low pressure switch somewhere in the system that will prevent the compressor clutch engaging.

This is designed to prevent compressor failure due to lack of lubrication as the refrigerant acts as a lube. If you can find this switch, then just short it out, and hopefully the compressor kicks into life.

If this is the case, then the next thing to check is the system pressure, there may be a leak somewhere.
