And after the first lap they represented about 50% of the field left competing

Can see these things becoming a race series of their own, good of the shelf, not too expensive, reliable, and obviously competitive.

Saw them both complete the first lap (Big Black minus its front panels), seamed like they where both pushing pretty hard, then apparently there was a big crash on the back straight which took out a lot of competitors.

A long while later saw Jono appear again with a busted front drive shaft which was removed then think he managed to complete another 2 laps before disappearing again...

Both trucks were very impressive and it would have been awesome to see them racing for a lot longer. Looking forward to the Taupo 1000

From Big Blacks page

hi everyone...not the best weekend racing. Started with a bad qualifying time, spun twice and we've put it down to been ''rusty'' after 7 months of not driving the truck. Started 33rd on the grid came through lap 1 and gained 22 places, the truck was going real good. Wrapped the bonnet over the top after a small incident and had to limp along to the next marshall point to get him to rip the bonnet off....hence the picture with the missing bonnet. Got in a few km's of lap 2, then we broke an alternator belt, which means no steering and no water pump to the engine and no spare onboard. Gutted but thats racing. Congrat's to all those competitors that finished the race and especially James Buchanan for taking out a back to back win. See you all at Taupo 1000.

From Jonos page

Had an awesome time at woodhill today and the truck worked well until we broke the front diff. So we removed the axles and went back out in rear drive and shit that was fun!!! But the 9.5"rear decided that it was not fun and died after 4.5 laps!! Still bloody stoked with everything else. Congrats to Craig Westgate and William Vanderwal putting on great drives to finish for the class eights. Unsure who was first or second.

Warrens (4wdbits) qualifying highlights vid (think I got that right?)

Spent both saturday and sunday at the racing crewing for Jono DSTRBD Racing, What an awesome time!

He had a slight mishap in the qualifying when a large hay bale jumped out in front of him  resulting in a little bit of cosmetic damage to the front end. We did a little temp repair as he had a competition winner to take for a ride.

Well the temp repair didn't like the speed this truck is capable of so promptly parted ways with the truck down the finish straight

So it was back to Jono's for a bit of repairs, By 11pm she was a minta again and all ready for the big race on Sunday.

After a few hours sleep we all met up at the forest and got ready for another great day. Image

Jono started in 24th place on the grid but quickly worked his way up to 11th by the second lap, unfortunately thats all the front diff could take so he made it back to the pits and the truck was quickly converted to 2 wheel drive and sent back out.

After a few more laps the 80 series cruiser diff in the back called it quits too leaving him stranded

But despite the set backs he was more than happy with the performance of the truck in it's first race, He never pushed it anywhere near it's limits and it was an absolute pleasure to drive! Pretty good for a truck that was built from an idea in his head with quite a few experimental bits.

The race was very hard on gear to with only about 20 of the 57 odd vehicles finishing.

The awards for ingenuity go to these two teams
Burt Munroe called he wants his stick back!
