Novawin - Battle of the Palace Teams Event

Postby HiluxDan » Sun Jun 14, 2015 8:33 pm

Norwest OHV Club is holding a fun teams event at Possum Palace over labour weekend, Sat 24th and Sun 25th October.

This event is aimed at Club trucks working together in teams of three to complete challenging stages over 2 days. Although it cant be guaranteed, the tracks are being set with no panel damage in mind. As there are no time limits and working together you should be able to navigate and winch your way through all the stages safely. One support vehicle per team allowed.

All trucks must meet usual Club Run requirements and carry basic first aid/safety/recovery gear. A minimum tyre size of 31 inches to a maximum of 35 inches as specified by the manufacturer. Winches and Extreme Mud tyres are required. One ground anchor per team. All drivers must be NZFWDA affiliated, including the support vehicle driver. This is a closed event and not open to the public or spectators.

Camping from Friday 23rd untill Monday 26th is welcome with showers and toilets onsite.

Cost is $360 per team and the event is limited to 10 teams on a first in first served basis. Any questions just ask or if you would like an entry form please contact;

Cheers and hope to see you there :)

Can we use a wire & kito clips and then have a truck or 2 in the team without a winch?

Unfortunately not, all trucks must have working winches :)

Is that because they aren't sure what a kito clip is and how it all works? :lol: Na just teasing mate, all good will try put together a team with winches.

Interesting that the "kito clip" and wire is not allowed on a teams event when the teams events that were run for years in south Waikato, and central NI were all based on no winches, but use of the wire rope and "kito clips" instead to recover team members.

Guess because the kito clip is a specialised piece of recovery gear and that not everyone would know how to use safely it is easier to ban them out right.

So i was wondering, how do you score the comp to come up with the winning team? Especially if theres no time limit in the stages?

Basically the winning Team will be the one which completes all the stages. There will be 1 timed event so we can determine the placing's should more than one Team complete all the stages. As this is a fun event for Club trucks (although not excluding comp trucks :) ) the timed event probably wont involve driving so we can avoid all the H&S issues that come with racing.
