Fireworks thrown into Woodhill causing Fires last night

Postby Jerry » Sun Nov 03, 2013 9:51 am

Appears there were 4 small fires at woodhill ??? due to someone throwing fireworks

"Dear the F******* that was driving a white ford courier with a dirt bike on the back and Ur g*y friend on the scooter. Thank you for throwing fireworks into woodhill forest from your window on rimers road . You almost burned down the whole forest you wankers. Cheers to all the the guys from norwest ohv who luckily spotted the first of 4 fires and helped put them out. Big props to Caleb James Olliver Colin nick Murray and the very helpful members of the public we met during our mission. Good job guys"

That was about as close to losing the park as we ever want to be. Thanks to all the Norwest guys and patrons of the park for the heroics. Now we have a pile of spent fire extinguishers :x
If there wasn't a night run last night at Woodhill then it would all be gone, including the Sandpit Bike Park too.
There are some firm leads as they were locals and known to Police.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Yep big thanks to all involved.

We were the first on the scene for 2 of the fires, the first being small(ish) and the second was minutes away from being a very serious fire.

10-12 extinguishers and about 40L of water and we had things semi contained before the firies turned up.

Was quite an interesting drive at 120kmh on gravel in a hilux

Very thankful we managed to get it all sorted, we ended up with 3 fire trucks which spent about an hour or so cooling the hotspots... My hat goes off to them for the very quick response to the call.

Cheers

Caleb

i heard the forest park has been given back to the local iwi and i know some of the local hunters are not happy about it, i wonder if that had anything to do with it or if it was just some lil sh*ts

Nothing to do with Iwi. Just some young irresponsible locals. Fire service and police want to charge them too. Kindly, the Forest Management Company want to replace our used extinguishers......also.........big up's to the fireys :D

Plus one for the volunteers, and a big thumbs up for the rural fire service - I bet those poor dudes make no plans for 2 to 3 weeks to keep "fires from fk tards under control"

Mate of mine was surfing at Piha today, another fire there too with kids with 10 shooters trying to get the surfers  They did get caught though, but another trip for the volunteers.

warning or diversion?!?!!??!!?
what a fuggin joke, man.
Obviously they need to make an example of a few dickheads to make people stop and think "well if I do this, then I may end up getting ploughed by a big black dude called daisy in prison, so maybe I wont"

jeeeze
