IMPORTANT: Karioitahi Beach and Muriwai Beach Beach Permits

Postby 00falcon » Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:25 am

Go through the process, you get one immediately emailed to you...

-------------
Good morning,

The use of vehicles on Karioitahi Beach and Muriwai Beach is restricted from 1 September. Anyone operating any type of vehicle on the beach must have a permit issued by council and that permit must be displayed in the vehicle or on the driver.

Customers can obtain a permit by completing the simple online form which is now live on our website via Driving on beaches.

Service Centre and Contact Centre staff can complete the online form on behalf of customers who do not have internet/email access or chose to visit a Service Centre to obtain the permit. The online form will generate the licence which can be printed and provided/posted to the customer.

Further information about rules / guidelines can be viewed via Rules for using vehicles on Muriwai and Karioitahi beaches.

The above links and basic instructions will be updated into iKnow.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Auckland Council

This seems to have been introduced quietly.

Anybody know the real reason behind this? Initially it seemed to be Karioitahi Beach then suddenly Muriwai is included as well.

How easy are the permits to come by?
I see they are free at moment but for how long?

Something is very fishy (pardon the pun) about this.

Its the age old problem, gates, permits and licences only work on the responsible honest folk.

Those are the folks that don't cause the trouble.

Those that do cause the trouble won't pay any attention to any of the above controls and carry on as they were.

It won't do anything to solve the problem, and just penalises the legitimate users of the public road.

Don't get me wrong, they have a serious problem up there with idots, but this isn't going to fix it. Cops staked out in the sand dunes watching and waiting however would

Death is never cool, doesn't matter how careless the actions. They were all someone's sons. I do mind.

oh yes ,it's my opinion , your welcome to disagree with me , ignore it , no problem to me

A weekend that has proved this quote by Brian Cox to be very true “The problem with today’s world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion AND have others listen to it.

The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!”

That is a sad ignorant thing to say. It only reflects the sort of person that you seem to be judging by this post. As you say my opinion
I roll out of bed, leave friends, family and work same as others on here do I am sure to answer the fire sirens call to attend I don't know how many MVA's now. Most of these are caused by New Zealanders and very few involve visitors to our country . Some of the things that I have noticed on my time doing this (a bit over 10 years now) is that I am yet to work with someone on a crew who isn't saddened when there is a fatality regardless of who it is or were they come from and also that in recent years we are hearing more comments from onlookers at incidents that are nothing short of racist and when you point out to them that it's Kiwis involved the change in their attitude is marked all of a sudden they are full of concern and blaming the weather, the road anything else they can think of rather than the New Zealand driver.
I think that this a very trend in our society and doesn't bode well for the future. At the end of the day a person is a person they are all someone's son/daughter or loved one

Complete Muppet. You can't write to save yourself so you quote someone else's crap.

You have a son? What if it was him and someone on here said that??

With attention currently on Muriwai, it's possibly timely to mention that there's a 4WD co-ordinated beach clean on Sunday 4 Oct starting at 8.30am to fit with the tides. These have been run annually for the past ten years or so and are usually followed by a barbecue hosted by the Auckland Council rangers.

If you are interested in helping for the morning, please let me know by email so that we know numbers for catering.

It is very unfortunate but lets be honest, the sole reason this happened is excess speed.

There is a direct correlation between speed and damage.
TOYOTA - The Official Vehicle of ISIS!
And makers of the '92 Camry, where you got your first backseat handjob.
