removing 4jb1 crank pully

Postby luke25 » Wed Oct 11, 2006 12:36 am

I'm replaceing the water pump on my '90 bighorn. 2.8TD 4jb1 engine. It seems that I need to remove the timing cover to get at it (I guess I might as well replace the timing belt while I'm at it) and to do this I need to remove the crank pully. I had a bit of a half hearted attempt to remove the nut from it but it is pretty tight. Is it worth trying it with a long bar or should I borrow a rattle gun. Once I get it off will I need a puller of some sort to get the pully off or can I knock it off with a soft mallet. Any advice on this or any of the job would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Luke
