As for your parts, id never order off a jeep dealer, their prices are ridiculously jacked. The most I use them for is getting the part numbers as a reference to go by then ordering from the likes of quadratec or morris 4x4 in America.

Typically, you don't need whole new calipers after they have become stuck. You need a kit like this: http://www.quadratec.com/products/56204_51.htm

And service the existing calipers. Any competent brake shops should be able to do it for you. TJ calipers are not unique to Wranglers only. They are fairly common bore size.

If the rotors have over-heated, you will need new pads and rotors as well. Bearing being a sealed unit bearing should not be adversely impacted unless the brakes were literally on fire with visible flame. BNT would be your best local source for all the parts you need, including the piston service kit. If you are working on it yourself, ask for a Trade price (you never know, you might be in luck).

They are very helpful and competitive with freight. I have bought a lot of things from them for my Jeeps over the years.

Best way to get Quadratec attention is to go to their "live chat" feature early in the morning NZ time. Someone will be available online and ask them anything you wish (Jeep related). Chances are you will end up talking to Rick, who is a very friendly and helpful person.

I never done maratoto before, I thought it was a car beating track.
But I'd be keen to tag along for an xmass trip if you guys would let me.

The loop is definitely rough, not going there. The main track is doable in a decent truck but it all depends on the weather. Hopefully, we'll find out what the status and conditions are before November/December.

Youre right it doesnt have to be, im happy to go anywhere that wont drown my gearbox as im yet to get that poor design plugged up.

The dealer is sending a mechanic up on Monday to have a look and hopefully fix it. I have a feeling he will be heading back and ordering parts though. But I have my fingers crossed that he can sort it out for me, I miss driving my baby

Good luck. It's been out of action for over a week and the dealer hasn't even looked at it! I would be mad as hell. Would you be claiming non use of vehicle and having to spend money on alternative modes of transport?

Tell me about it! They said they would call early this week but I never heard from them so rang and gave them assholes. I'm just lucky I haven't managed to sell my car yet

It's on it's way to Rotorua, hopefully I will know the verdict by the end of the day. Apparently they had to buy strops just to come and get it, at least they are committed to sorting this out. The mechanic that picked it up said they would probably just put a new caliper in it for me. I asked him to make sure they check both sides, I don't want to have this problem again...

Are they towing it with strops? Faulty brakes and not being flat bed towed, I wouldn't have been happy with the mechanic or dealer. Not when it's warranty work.

No no, they hired a trailer. I will be thoroughly checking everything when it comes back

I have my Jeep back again, Yay! Felt so good to drive it again.
They fitted new seals and a new piston which is good but I'm disappointed because they never checked the other side. So I will be pulling at least that side apart and checking everything myself. Will probably end up getting new callipers for both sides but at least it's back on the road again for now
