Hi - just bought a 2000 model grand cherokee, and the heater is blowing cold only.
It worked on way home,as i cleared foggy windscreen using demister, but is now cold as.
Both pipes to heater coil are hot,and water reservoir is full.
Engine is running at normal temp.
Does anyone know how to fix, or of someone who specialises in this kind of repair? Cheers, Paul

Possibly blocked heater core?
Not sure where you are, but somewhere like 'Cool Car' in Manukau, Auckland - or any automotive air conditioning place should be able to help...

Re: Jeep Grand cherokee blowing cold air
hey mate i recently had this problem in my hilux, one minute the heater was working fine then it went to blowing only slighty hot air and the switch from hot to cold became stiff.i checked the valve on the firewall and it was working fine. check under your dash where the heater core is if there is a flap which moves with the hot/cold switch mine had a broken piece of pottery in there that was stopping the flap moving which was causing most of the air to bypass the heating core.

Cheers - I have searched on net,and apparently really common problem with this model is blend doors fall to bits. In america , jeep owners tryin to get chrysler to recall them as its a manufacturing fault. There are kits available where you cut a hole thru glovebox, and replace blend doors. I will investigate this and post my findings, as there must be heaps of them with this problem.Sure beats the heck out of takin whole dashboard out ha ha! thanks for your input .

Try www.blendorstore.com for information
Try recalibration first.
Pull the codes and report them here.
This only can happen in Limiteds or Overlands. And not all of them develop this problem.

Re: Jeep Grand cherokee blowing cold air
i just jammed a welding rod in there to hold the blendors up
lets face it in the winter you only want hot anyway and when summer comes round will take it out for cold again

Re: Jeep Grand cherokee blowing cold air
I found a fault diagnosis online ,and it's definately blend doors. Can buy a kit from america to replace them as its a common prob with cherokees ( u.s $150) or have a go at this ...... DIY fix for Jeep Cherokee A/C Blend Door Failure by Gregmink -look this up, can make your own doors from door hinges and hunk of plate!lol
Blend doors can be accessed thru glovebox, and there are many sites online to show exactly how this is done.Am gonna have a go at it myself, as other option involves removing whole dash board etc ,and looks like a damned nightmare! Thanks for all replies - much appreciated.Paul

As I said before, try this kit. Best customer service around and a very very helpful guy. You can retain dual climate control with this. You don't need to remove the dash board.

Ryan is good like that. Took me a couple of hours to do it. That was 2 years ago. Still going strong.

Pete, I'm interested in how you did this. Did you go through the glove box and wire it up that way?

Re: Jeep Grand cherokee blowing cold air
yeah i just followed the net fix to cut into the box
just need to be really carefull about where you drill
then just bent up a welding electrode to hold the doors up so they are only on hot
i look at it as if i get the blendor kit im already half way home but as its been only cold weather its been good
if i havent gotten the blendors by summer will just remover the rod and have it blowing cold

I highly recommend the blendor kit if these are a problem. I am very happy with mine.
