WJ power steering pipe

Postby Bubba » Fri Jun 20, 2014 2:14 pm

I have a leaky power steering pipe and need a little advise. Replacing it isn't a issue but trying to decide if a "aftermarket" part or a "Mopar" part. I can get from Chch for $257 or a "Mopar" one for $336 from Armstrong in Wgtn overnight.

Heard bad things about some of the aftermarket jobs, cross threading, not fitting etc

I could get one from the states for cheaper I guess, but have never imported anything before. Not sure who or where or which brand I should be going for. Also, it needs replacing before I need to buy another bottle of gold plated fluid @ $70 a pop

I leaning toward just getting it from Armstrong Jeep unless wiser heads tell me not to.

Yeah I'd vote Pirtek. $190 replaced my top power steering hose on my safari on a call out.

"Apparently" It just a worn "o" ring at the join but the utube advice I have seen warns against trying to repair it.

Another 10c part that wears out and requires you to purchase the $300 replacement. I just finished replacing both 10c parts in the door winders at a cost of $250.

mmm to votes for Pirtek....

If I need original Mopar parts and can't find them anywhere cheaper, I try with:

https://moparonlineparts.com/

They are good dealers out of US. Got many things from them, never had a problem so far.
