Hey Tyco, love the Jeep. It's sure good to see it's being used for what it was built for...

Nice one tycho. What lift are you running, and do you have stock control arms? I went into double black offroads store in Melbourne the other day, good guys to deal with, if only shipping wasn't such a killer.
PPM tie rod, best price Melb to Wgtn I could find was $240. The rest I'm taking on as checked in luggage.

Howdy
Old Man Emu 2 inch lift. Heavy duty springs in the front medium in the rear. Real happy with them and a shame the OME 4 inch kit is not as good. Stock control arms at the moment and they seem to be holding up good so far. JKS front sway bar disconnects highly recommended for good front flex :). Favourite mod is my Artec front axle truss with C gussets. Due to Oz exchange rate I tend to shop out of the US, Morris, Quadratec or Amazon although my steering damper was via DBOR

Just tidied up/removed a whole lot of shoddy wiring in it from a previous owner somewhere down the line.

Well, we got back from our first decent road trip in the WJ. I reset the computer before we left; clocked 2000kms and averaged 11.1 L/100km.

Just to compare, this is a 4.7HO V8 with about 287 ponies. I did the same trip two years before in a Disco2 running a 2.5 Diesel that averaged (about) 9L/100 kms, add on the RUC's...

I set the cruise control on the same speed for both trips, difference being on the hills and off the mark in intersections etc, points going to the jeep on both accounts

Goes to show it's how you drive not what you drive

It is a great drive, if you plan it right. You have to get the timing right when you for the Wgtn traffic and again as you go through Auckland. Then take your time and relax

Whoa! This is my old Jeep :)

Love seeing it doing what it's meant to do. I sold it when I was moving countries, now I'm back and just picked up an XJ.

Changed a few things on it since you sold it too... also have put a winch on it since that outing.
