Looks like no one did anything again So I'll start one.
Got a few more little jobs done, finished all the wiring finally, including the winch and dual batteries. Respooled the cable backwards, time will tell how that's gonna work out. Chopped a drift style rivit on repair patch out of the old roof to cover the giant speed hole where previous owner had tried to hack the rusty rear quarter out. Swapped tyres onto new rims, much harder work on alloys but got it done. Getting closer to a test run. Started making a clamp for dual batteries, welder tip burnt out, doh!

Fitted radio to a fellow mudders van......if that counts... oh and will do a bit of welding on the playdohs body later today when the neighbours are up and about. Don't think they will appreciate grinding noises

Finally installed the air tank (Been lying around since I had the Prado, so around 7 years) , can't put the compressor where I wanted, so now have to figure out where to run the air hose as it needs to go from one side to the other....

Drove to foxton beach, took my three young 'uns for a swim, drove north up the coast, stopped at himitangi beach for another swim. Drove north to the rangitikei river mouth (Tangimoana settlement) and swum there to wash the salt and sand off everyone. As we got towards tangimoana, the sand changed from firm damp stuff to drier softer stuff, and I watched the trans temp Guage climb quickly(within 2 or 3 mins) from 83 degrees to 95 degrees, then stabilise. You can see how people can cook an auto (without bigger trans coolers installed) if they play in the loose sand for an hour or two. (vehicle 1997 Nissan Mistral)

Re: 24-25 Jan
finally got around to ripping the gearbox out of the d21 terrano and replacing it with a d22 narvara gearbox.
Alot easier to do than what i thought (with some expert help) only had to drill two holes in cross member and mod the slave cylinder the rest was plug and play.
