Hi All,

A bit more progress on the box for the back of my truck about 90% finished, just have to do the top and install my Air-Zenith compressor, and wiring and then the back is all done. Here are some photos.

Big Thanks goes out to Hilux Dan for the Idea of making the frame out of steel and the fixing of the compressor, als a BIG thanks goes out to madlux for giving his time, skill's and the use of his tools for making it happen.

Pulled the motor out of the parts bighorn this arvo. decided to start at 3pm had it out by 5.30. Also got the trans ready to drop out tomorrow morning (exhaust in the way) hense the motor coming out first so I dont have to cut the exhaust to get the trans out.

Updated 15/01/11 - Got the front diff out, trans out, control arms out

Plan for the next few days is to get all the steering out and, torsions and a few other bits out. Maybe the rear diff if I get time.

Spent a couple or three hours in Woodhill on Saturday.
New pump works well. Plenty of go now.
Can cruise around in H4 now. As before as soon as it loaded up the EGT just climbed and climbed to silly temps.
Now they are considerably less....
Pump still a little advanced, get a tinkling sound during hard acceleration....
Spent the morning today giving her a bit of a clean, enough so I can work on her without getting all sandy/dirty

In between working on my Mini, I have started looking at doing a LHS high-mount alty swap on the Lada. Maybe even a high out-put one too...

Should be fairly simple if I keep the standard alty though.
It'll be so much easier to get to the alty then, and it'll be up and out of the mud too - the way it should have been in the first place!

Stripped the red grease, from my new Ridge Ryder 9500 from super cheap, and replaced with marine grease.
Found a bit of ply wood to replace rear door card on discovery to fit a cooking shelf.

well friday, wired in an idiot light on my pto( Hope it will stop me from driving off with it still engaged ). Then put on the muds. Drove up Thompsons to look at the slip on Saturday with the club. Bugger that shortened that trip a whole lot.
Took the muds back off then work on sunday.

yeah its not healthy for the bullbar when you do that, I dont usually have a problem forgetting to disengage the pto but I've got a forward/reverse pto thats using a T Bar lever instead of a toyota lever and the way the linkage is setup theres only about 10-15mm back and forward movement in the lever and it farking hard to find neutral in the middle :x

Gah, idk. I'm trying, as much as my spare time and funds allow - and I seem to have a distinct lack of both of those!

V8 and box is mounted :D :D :D

gonna have to shorten rear and lengthen front driveshaft, but aircon is worth it.

Image

Gotta pull it out again tomorrow to weld up all the mounts, and then its wiring time !

Then spent today at Hampton downs testing in a mates drift car

Image

and I was driving the D1 FC.

And chatted up a hot (sofukinghot) German tourist, sorted her a ride in a drift car and she`s keen to go see a movie next weekend !

Today was a good day !

Bugger all done on the truck this weekend, though a lot to do this week!

Pull off intake manifold (bastard, really wanted to avoid that  )
Take head in to be checked and milled, new head bolts and perhaps valves looked at.
Try to remove this bloody crank pulley with some heat

To buy:
Head gasket, thermostat gasket, cam seal, crank seal, dissy cap/rotor
Crank pulley, key, Crank bolt
Waterpump + seal
Timing belt cover & seal
Intake manifold gasket
Heater send hose, lower radiator hose

went up to woodhill for the first time in a year (as a driver) truck went amazing. :D drove places that i couldn't/wouldnt have thought of doing when it was an auto! slight problem with cooling but that should be an easyish fix

also watched a 'rated' tow hook get straightened out causing the snatch strap to fly off and take out a spot lamp and my grill... :?

Mine is a two direction pto, so used a magnetic switch so off in closed and light goes if moved even a small amount. works well so far.
