Re: 08-09 September 2012
getting the pajero out of the shed for the first time in like 2 months tomorrow.
reason: scratched off what i thought was some surface rust on the a pillar which turned into a hole. I cbf fixing it so hopefully getting a good price on it tomorrow, then removing screen and dropping it back off on monday. fingers crossed.
should get it sorted by mid week and wofd up. time flies.

Re: 08-09 September 2012
Stripped Tyres of rims, got all the mud out .
Tyres should hold the air in better now, until next outting .
Took all the sand and dirt out of the air box - the ol TB42 revs alot better now .
Replaced Right hand engine mount, I replaced the left hand side one about 4 months ago, Both came out in 2 pieces.
Plan on changing Gear box mounts, and the cross member bolts during the week - Bolts a bit rusty as I found out last time I removed them to do clutch .. So now a few box's ticked off the list, plenty more to do

Re: 08-09 September 2012
Arrived back in NZ this morning...
Had an awesome trip was a real eye opener...
Need to get out of BKK next time.
Saw some cool 4wd stuff and some cool shops/markets
(Its not liking me adding pics, will see how I get on)
Apparently my pics are all too wide
I give up after 6 attempts at adding them...
I did find these over there, 33s or 36s but only in a 16"
Would anyone wear them here?

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

May i suggest you take lots of equipment in with you, We just spent 13 hours doing one track off bogg inn road.
We started with 9 trucks all on 35,s or bigger most had twin lockers and we had 13 winches between us, by the time we got out (10pm) we were down to 6 winches and had broken several winch ropes and extensions.
Our guide, a very knowledgeable guys who's been in there lots said its the toughest he's ever seen it.
I wish i'd had time to take pics but was a bit busy!
If you do go further in have fun...It's freakin awsome in there

Re: 08-09 September 2012
Well my day got interesting quickly.
Got a SoS call from a mate that was stuck on muriwai just up from rimmers road. So I raced off down to his place to get the spare key for the Hilux as they had managed to lose it so finally got there as it was getting dark, Suzuki managed to pull it out, it was buried up to its axels and had two bikes on the back, with a few snatches all well and good. Had to do it in revers too as I only had a D hook on the front.
Then I was told that just south of rimmers were some others stuck who had been there all day. SO i raced off too them. Turned out it was koreans in a new triton ute bogged up to its sills in watery sand. A few snatches later I got it out. However I managed to shear all the drive shaft bolts off the front driveshaft to diff joint. So I lost 4wd. Managed to get to the base of the dunes and then got the triton guy to tow me back up the beach.
With all of this there was a couple of guys in a 70 series that had no gear so were useless, except the passenger drove the triton back as the asian was too scared too. Glad as well as going up the dunes to get out at rimmers we got stuck again. Had to put the tyres in the triton right down as they were still on road pressure. He ended up having to go next to me to get enough run up to get me out, and in one attempt put a nice gouge down the side of the ute thanks to my front bar.
Back in the carpark I looked at the damage and as I said earlier was just sheared bolts and to my happiness the driveshaft was still there and no gearbox oil loss. So cable tied it up out the way and drove home.
All of this with the tide about 3-5min from hitting the dunes. Got the heart rate up a bit indeed.
So I got the tritons number plate and the owners name and number too, so will be getting a couple of hundred out of the dude.
Sucks that I had my muds on instead of my road wheels, made it a bit harder. Also happy that the zuk pulled out two trucks twice it weight.
Now to finish packing for spending a week in wellington this week.

I think Jono got some video, so i will get that soon and see if theres an thing good.
I,m pretty sure he got some of Trevor's new buggy (the guy that built PeteFJ40's last one)
It's an insane beast, nissan running gear, LS1, 3.8 transfercase and 40" tyres he drove pretty much every where...doing no track damage I might add

And to think the guys were trying to get me to go on a trip in there I was pretty sure from what I'd heard that Pureora was a wee bit out of the league of my lil Hilux on 31"s lol. I dont mind a bit of a challenge but I do like to drive home in mostly 1 piece

Just go into the Ngaroma block at Pureora, it's a MASSIVE play ground like Wood hill, except its free, good camping and with out all the JAFA's!!!!

Thanks DB, sounds like a better plan will look into that. Its a bush bomb painted with chalkboard paint so its no stranger to gettin banged around, but dont want to kill it lol.
Although I really should get onto getting the EFI fitted..at the moment with the knackered carb I think it would be more economical to tow it with the Mrs' 1400cc Astra haha..even if the astra did blow up
