Postby curly12 » Sat Sep 15, 2012 10:40 am

Well sort of has been a week long thing really. Took out rear trailing arms and front radius arms, burnt out old bushes and have had new ones pressed in. New front rotors fitted, wheel bearings replaced and all ready to put back together this afternoon

Fixed the annoying knocking noise coming from the steering. It was the stabiliser hitting the steering arms.

Then got WoF done without the noise distracting from the important stuff.

fixed up my lift pump wiring. couldn't replace the oil pressure switch without pulling turbo out so used a spare oil port for the new one.
so now have it wired so the lift pump turns off when there is no oil pressure.

of course it started raining while doing that and soon as i finish the rain stops. typical!

Took the truck in for a wof yesterday, stoopid poxy starter motor died on the way in, its only been in for 2 weeks and doesn’t look like its ended up surviving the costa plenty teams comp, I've now been through 3 starters since Easter :x the joker still took the truck through for the wof and passed it and only just in time coz I lost half the electrics on the way back home, lights, indicators, heater and fawk knows what else and no doubt an earth problem also attributable to costa plenty so I've got that to sort out now :x :? had a hunt through the shed and found a pile of old starters and tested them all out and it looks like I've run out of working starters other than an a couple of LS starters that wont fit the old chev blocks. To add to that the trucks running pretty rough and keeps dropping a cylinder and running on 7 so will have to go through the ign and leads and plugs and shit to sort that out once I find another starter for it  :|

Water blasted the costa mud from the truck, that shit is horrible!! radiator cleaned out and re-fitted, then the charge indicator on the dash was reading 36v!! took it to the auto sparky and he said internal regulator is naffed... pulled it out and should be back by Wednesday.

Through a kit into the passanagers side swivil hub. Was pretty happy with myself it only took 4.5 hours to do but was then followed by half an hour with the sludge gun filling the diff back up :x

Went for a drive today with 10 other trucks and drove here and there. Dropped off a power steer pump to Campott.
Ended up top of Thompsons.
Nice meet up with CRAZYBUSTARD again, it's been a while.
Track dryish.
Poked our noses down Kati side too. I think I'll book a whole weekend and do it when a little drier :P

Cheers,

Yeah, all good - snapped the fiberglass windscreen (I have a spare) and has a crack in the guard which i'll repair so no biggy.

Was drifting sideways across a step dune (the waves look close in the photo but are long way off and quite big) - all part of testing truck stability

Drove it for the rest of the day.

good thing Jeep made the TJ's carpets so easy to remove. Shame they didn't put a breather on their auto boxes though. Filled that jeep up with mud many times, took the roof off and hosed the interior sweet as, but those bloody auto boxes don't like a mouthful.

Yesterday, weather was to shi*e to do anything even going for a wheel seemed like an ominous idea. Today the sun has just appeared and looking like its going to stay that way, so hoping to get on to front wheel bearings and axle seals and maybe pinion seal depending how times going, while im under there and already covered in grease/oil :P
