3 and 4 of Movember

Postby skid » Sat Nov 03, 2012 5:40 pm

woot woot, been a while since I started one of these weekend threads

after lots of weekends when either myself or Sig couldn't make it, we finally got one where I could get the 80 to his house to fabricate a new exhaust.
Couldn't of chosen a more shitty weekend to be doing an exhaust outside in the rain, but oh well, we got it done.........

finally got to use my 900mm extension I got years ago

BIG THANKS TO SIG FOR WHIPPING ME UP A NEW EXHAUST, CHEERS MATE

was out cruising this afternoon and found this parked up on the side of the road.......

Thats not gonna go far.

I spent the last 3 days exploring Waihekie, no 4wd, but a corolla with a good runup sufficed for some dodgy hills.

Half way through my rocker guards, took the old steps off and the extra flare part, but will leave it until next weekend. Don't want to run out of light so will finish them next weekend. held the guard up to the sill and it looks pretty awesome :D can't wait to get them on! Bit nervous about drilling in to the Jeep though

Everyone like pics:

Worked yesterday, went to ripco today and got some small fuel filters for the top of my diff/fuel/gbox breathers. Just gotta make up a bracket to mount them inside. Fitted some 30mm Spring spacers to the front of the cruiser to try and level it out a bit. Pulled the Radius arms out and halfway through fitting some Ironman castor correction bushes. Will finish everything tomorrow....hopefully. :D

Gave my new (new to me last month) hilux a service, new diesel filter, oil filter and oil, checked gearbox and transfer case oil and changed oil in both diffs. K&N air filter arriving tomorrow.

Diesel filter had what looked like rust in it, both diffs were nasty grey.

pulled the 40 out of the garage and took it for drive around town and the shore. stopped past sibainmuds place but he wasnt home. so came home and put it back in the garage till it goes for a wof at the end of the week. its only done about 500km in 6 months and 100 of those were today. bring on more summer cruising. :D

Yeah, sorry Andy. Was at my brother's pulling some parts off my spare motor from T1. Removed, exhaust manifold (for export  ), intake manifold (nice clean one for T3), and injectors. Had to go buy a 22mm deep reach socket for the injectors from Repco. While i was there bought some wiper blades (inspired by Fraser  )
Haven't fitted them yet as I didn't have half a day spare to complete the mammoth task
Oh, and tightened up a loose hub on T2. Bad news is the front still noisy so will have to throw a cv shaft at it during the week (glad I have spares ready to go)
Quite weekend really :D

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Finally fitted some new wiper blades..after going back and buying the right size after already cutting the first ones (first jap vehicle I've come across that takes the wide blades).
Rebuilt draglink ends, replaced knackered wheel bearings and repacked and tightened the the other side. Productive day really, should be all good for WOF next weekend now. Next on the list timing chain and oil change.

fitted cody extractors with 2 coby mufflers and 2inch piping to my gf's escudo, very happy with the performance difference, but its a bit to loud and sounds like a tin can in the high revs. Also had Drurban come over and fit a new rear wiper blade, while hilux dan applied rainx to the windscreen.

Not quite the weekend but close enough...

Made up some practice spring spacers for the rear of the Lada this evening.
It'll be good to chuck them in and see how much of a difference there is.
Then I can try mount the longer front springs and see how it goes, no idea how much of a lift it'll give though :?

Probably going to order the necessary parts tonight too (have to call the guy in England, man I hate having different time zones  ), so then I just have to get the alty off Sibainmud and wire it up and it'll be ready to be sent away to get the brakes and clutch sorted. Sick of bleeding the both of them

As above, missed the weekend, been holed up at home with the flu...
But did drag my sorry as* out to the garage today and fired up the Playdoh, started first pop after 5 weeks sitting in the garage
Drove it out, then in, looked at the wipers and said to myself "nah" too hard the way I am feeling. So removed a few bolts and adjusted the IP timing a bit more advanced. And went over the truck ready for our Woodhill Patrol this weekend..

Well... just home from taking the Cruiser for a test drive. What a difference the castor bushes do!! Prick of a job though. Steering nice and heavy and no bump steer. :D .. Made some brackets for the breathers so there looking good. Just got to mount the front ones tomorrow. Oh and cruiser is sitting a fair bit more level with the spacers. .
Incase anybody wants to know:
80 series Radius arm Bushes DO fit LJ/KZJ Prados
75/78 series front Coil Spacers DO fit the front of a LJ/KZJ Prado.
