cruiser spat the back diff on the way to work yesterday. Making the same banging and clicking noises as last time, lost the back off a tooth by the sound of it. done about 80km on it, stopped clicking but it's got one hell of a rumble winding down  poor thing.

problem is my Escudo's got the stands and ramps under it at the moment. because i'm replacing the back diff.

:x

so much for a quiet christmas.

we had a guy in the club (2 or 3 actually) that had this happen after a good couple hard trip they seemed to split them there, think one of them got them corogenticly frozen (or how ever you spell that) to make them stonger

went out to the waimak after dark to test out my new spottys, had to modify the mounts as they kept moving when off road.
come across a guy that had been stuck since 7pm (it was 11.30 by now)
he got really grumpy because i wouldnt snatch him off his tow bar, got even grumpier when i suggested that maybe the creek track wasnt designed for d21 terranos on bald road tires with his wife and kids in the back and that he shouldnt have gone out alone.
he got even grumpier when we handed him a shovel and a turfer and proceeded to have a beer while we waited for our gear back.
So he finally gets out, throws our gear to the side of the track and takes off spraying me with mud, only to get 30m down the track and get stuck again.
Was one of the funniest things i have seen.

photos to follow when i find where my kids have hidden the camera cord.

By the way my spotlights dont move anymore

What a wanker should have left him the second time, might make him think about taking a rope and shovel and not being a c*nt when some one helps out next time.

Gave the safa a service man was the old oil filthy, black hands after wiping the excess oil off with a rag. Since this I unplugged a couple of plugs and cleaned them and now my factory glow timer works again haha so don't need to use the manual switch to glow in the mornings now.

Also fitted a 2nd hand wiper motor, now I have my fastest mode working. While I was at it I painted the wipers and got new blades and rubbers so happy with the out come. But boy what a job won't be doing that again

sorkel is all fitted and ready to go..........
IMG_0178.JPG

NOT!
Something else took my attention

Picked up some new wheels. :D
IMG_0189.JPG

Entertained the wifes shoping desires for a few houres in return for the wheels

IMG_0193.JPG

Hacked up the rear wheel arches and started bending and tacking the inner skinn into place.

IMG_0199.JPG

chucked the wheels back on to test, good thing I did as there is more chopping to do

The fronts also hit on the rear and front of the arch when turning
IMG_0190.JPG

the front will be a matter of cutting away the lower part of the front valance to clear. But the rears are another whole story of complicated.
you pannel beater welder type blokes are tougher than me no way I could do this stuff for a job.

Lesson of the day: Lada's have small wheel arches

Went up to woodhill today for the shake down run for my new truck...

Had a bloody good day, cheers to Datsunsafari and jimnyjeep for tagging along and being patient while i learn how to move the big girl around

Only lost a wing mirror, blew a power steering hose and did a little panel beating 8) 8) drove it home, so I call that a success

The wheel arch size is probably not so much the issue, I would say its the HUGE offset.

Cut steel, birdy welded some steel (it'll grind out to like a flat panel - yeah right), burned hand with weld spatter and broke a CO2 guage.

All in all a good day in the shed.
