March 8th - 10th

Postby Camel » Fri Mar 08, 2013 5:32 pm

Payed up my insurance for the year on the Safari today .

Earlyer on the week , did a mini lift kit (2inch ) springs and shocks .
Replaced front broken bump stop with 80series Landcruiser (rear)
bump stops.

Really should do something about my front castor arms , castor mesurments out to shiet and bushes are stuffed .
Next on the list, shorten Pto drive shaft and install the controllers and start using it!

Hope for some rain so we can use our trucks in mud again

Well the plan is to do some more on the WTA intercooler install.
Picked up some 90 deg silicone elbows.. and a 2 to 3 inch exhaust tube adaptor. Mock it up and weld up the supports for the intercooler...
Just need to locate an inline fill point for the 19mm tubes...
Might go and visit my local plumbing merchant...

Edit: half way thru... Intake end mocked up and one support done . Time for lunch...Then do the second support... Will do turbo exit end later in the week.... Need to spend some quality time with the family :D

Well its now just after 5 pm and I have finally got the WTA intercooler all tack welded in place.
Phew what a mish... Being a short ass trying to work on a lifted 4WD..
Need a step ladder to climb into the engine bay
Well thats the hard bit done.. Will pull it apart carefully and fully weld it all up....
Here is a photo to prove it. !
And yes the bonnet can still close with a bit of room to spare

put holden v6 motor into hilux and took it out again and put it in again and out again then in again. long process trying to get engine mounts into the correct positions before getting them welded in then after they were welded got so sorting out my clutch got it bolted to the motor and bell housing on the gearbox and replaced slave and master clutch cylinders with new upgraded ones.

and tidied up the garage amazing actually some concrete under that masses of parts and rubbish.

Pulled some dash out and steering covers, to permanently wire in my digital egt gauge. Found to have flat batt, seems to be a problem now I work 3min from home.
On charging, one cell is fizzing, is that end of life ?
Also pulled auto aerial, but works ok, so must be the dodgy Chinese stereo, so that's out now too.
Still made it out to help with a seahorse fish after work.

Had the Basil Philp's Challenge on sat. Great day for all Combined Clubs and a day trip up the Gary and then down Okuku back to camp site on Sunday. Looking forward to next year with Canty Rec Club running the challenge. Nig

It was a great day Nige, thanks to all who helped organise it. You even had Land Rover beer at the bar in the evening :0) We missed 2nd place by half a point, gutted!

Garry-okuku trip following day was good as well but never seen it that dry.

Cheers

Andy
