Just spent the morning removing more Thompsons mud from the brakes and other nooks and crannies..Only the interior to go once its dried up a bit...
Need to pull radiator at some time soon and while I am at it put in a hi flow thermostat...Rad is full of Woodhill pine needles and probably some Thompsons mud... Ran a little hotter on the way home last weekend but not as much as the Nissan's with us..

Just got back from leading a community trip up the Leatham to Bottom Gordon's Hut. It was a great turn out had 10 4x4's all up, with a good selection of family's and older couples, even had a Kia Serento come along and surprisingly (to me) it did really well, I was bit worried about how it was going to get on with the 3 main river crossings but no problems

Still have to do some more grinding and bogging but not a bad start and good gain in clearance 8)

Went for a bit of a night cruise as i was bored.
went up Whariti Peak to the Aerials. Bloody eerie up there on a night with a few clouds blowing through!
Then shot across North Range Rd from the Ballance end.
The 'unmaintained' stretch of North Range was a little more chopped up than I remembered but still a piece of piss.
Need some more lights!

Kids were having a birthday party so a perfect excuse to evade into shed for a day.

I recently bought a Safari with dodgy WARN winch.
It's one of those older models with 4 solenoids out of which 3 were busted. Free spool clutch was also stuck.
Pulled winch apart and reassembled it with fresh grease. Clutch is going on smoothly and new contactor kit to replace solenoids should arrive next week.

Replaced the flimsy rear door trims with 0.070" aluminum panels. Ordered some clips to mount some tools on them. Cleaned out the shed, nothing too serious.

So went to install all the bits i've collected for a 4" lift on my patrol, half day job etc, dropped the rear diff down and what do we have.......

Image

Ahh poor mans 2" lift, gutted I didn't notice it when I bought the truck! So time to make it right! Luckily I had a few mates that were handy with a grinder and welder....

Image

What a mess to clean up, centers were gas cut out and box section was all but fully welded right in the inside, took about half an hour of creative grinding on each spring base to salvage!

Image

So since all the rubbish has been cut off, great time to angle the bases slightly foward

Image

All fixed! A nice coat of black primer and all is tickityboo, only difference from factory is the bases are now roughly 5mm lower and angled foward slightly

Image

While we've got everything up in the air, time to chuck in my custom drop boxes that push the diff forward 15mm

Image

And in place.......

Image

Seem to have lost my before and after photos of the truck in totaly so will update soon...
