25/4/16 - Thompsons track

Postby mark.griffith » Mon Apr 25, 2016 6:50 pm

Took the Zook for a look up Thompson's, Te Aroha side today to test out the new locker.. got about half to 2/3 way up and wasn't keen to push on solo, some solid winching would have been needed. Damn, last time I was there you could drive a Toyota Corolla to the top, today not so much. In serious need of some digger action up there.Image

Maybe just a lil bit of diggering? :)

or maybe I just need more horsepower and a less fussy winch B!tch.

Because people drove it when it was closed the council who are responcable for its upkeep will not touch it plus where to put the spoil from moving slips ect
so we are in a catch 22 position, not sure if someone took a machine in would they be congratulated or fined.

NZFWA problem or ours

that's are far as I got earlier in the year
89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered

Council have made it clear that if they get involved in doing anything, it will be made into a forestry track capable of being safely used by logging trucks, or they will close it completely.
Our best option is to do nothing and enjoy it as it is.
