Portable washing bay?

One of the main things that annoy me after having a good off road trip is. Cleaning the truck afterwards.
I would of spent $30 dollars at the steam cleaning bay and just over half an hour cleaning my truck. And I couldn't even get the underside fully clean.
Setting a high pressure sprinkler up to drive over would be better than nothing.
I wish there was a place that had a ramp I could drive up onto so I could get under there.
I recon if someone was to start up a wash world that had this ability in a good location would clean up.

They have to big ramps like that at the dunedin rally site so once your finished competing for the day drive up the rampes blast the mud off the underneath and put your truck on the trailer and take it home. Its a really good idea.

my plan is to eventually set up a high pressure pump conected to several lengths of 2 inch pipe you can drive over with lots of small holes spraying up at different angles. propably need a cow shed wash down sized pump tho. which propaly requires 3 phase power.

The hydropad looks like a great idea.

In NZ your regional council would want you to catch and treat, or otherwise safely dispose of, the waste/dirty water from this system. They wouldn't want your muddy water to pollute the soil - it might contain hydrocarbon or other nasty nasty pollutants.

Of course you could wash your truck on your lawn with your waterblaster and not have to catch or treat any of those nasties.

I'd be guessing. But I'd say the cost of that system would be huge.

It would be great if there was a simple portable system that pumped river water and turned it to high pressure. Add a ramp to drive your truck up on or and A framed system using your winch.
Clean your truck at the area you're off roading? That way the dirt stays there?
I don't know. There has to be a simple way to do it that know one's thought of yet.

Yeah. It's called a waterblaster. they are quite common now I believe

Water blasters are only highly efficient pumps. They don't need to be hooked up to a hose, just put the inlet in the river. I used to have one mounted under the bonnet years ago that just required a belt to be slipped on to the spare crank pulley. Worked a treat, but then I saw the light and stopped driving mud and shit all the time

But if I took my waterblaster I'd have to bring a power supply. And my blaster needs water pressure.

Get yourself an old karcher (or maybe one of the el cheapo's from the warehouse etc will do) water blaster the has a stuffed electric motor and just use the pump mounted on a platform setup that you can quickly fit while parked up beside the river, flick a fan belt on the spare front crank pulley, tension it with a bungy strap, and all is good. I found my old one was easily as good set up like this (in the pressure it pumped etc) as it was with the original 240v electric motor.

You don't need any room, as it can only be used when you are standing still anyways. Mine have a frame that clipped onto the bottom of the front cross member, and a mate of mine had one that fitted in the V of his V8 rover. When you are not using it, just strap it in the back. I used to have an air con pump that worked the same way for huffing up tyres etc at the end of the day.

As we live next to the Zinc processing plant we sneak in and use their under truck washer, you just drive over it very slowly, I am sure if you check around near you there would be a similar facility for washing transporters that have to be washed before they leave a certain area/factory,farm/ etc.
