There are so many to choose from its hard to narrow down. Best thing would be to go through the yellow pages and visit places that are near to you. Talk to the owner, find out what they do and how they work, check out their spray and oven facilities, get a quote (not an estimate), and have a look at some of the other jobs in there.

Obviously you want to find a balance between craftsmanship and insurance jobbers. Not all panel beaters are interested in rust cutting because it takes a long time and those ones prefer to do quick and easy insurance repairs (remove and replace panels, respray, done).

I have had work done at Accidento in Ponsonby before and found their work good. Have had them remove rust before and an insurance job. Also had work done in Bodyworks in Wakefield Street. A tricky repair where a certain garage in Pukekohe had dropped my bonnet on the corner and scrunched it along with a number of small stone dents across its surface. They were pretty good too but I had to get them too remove overspray from the vehicle that was a different colour to my one they had repaired (everyone has bad days, maybe that was one of theirs).

bump.

rust repair will be minimal and nothing major just bubbles appearing around window seals.
so looking for a good place to do a windows out underseal, repaint and put anti rust waxoyl in doors + other moist places.

someone must have had work or know someone whose had work done in auckland....

cheers

If you dont mind travelling out west, Safi panel and paint for low end, prestige autofinishes for mid/upper end and greg at Profile panel for top end hammer and file no bog finish! Hope that helps :)

Went out today to get quotes. Went to 7 panel beaters in total, Accidento said it wasnt really their thing as did most of the others. Prestige autofinishes and Bryan Berry Panelbeaters were the only two interested. Think ill go with Bryan Berry solely because theyre closer to my place and have done a bunch of vintage cars before.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Yeah, thought that might be the case. Like I said, most are only interested in doing quickie insurance jobs nowadays. Anything that involves craftsmanship is uneconomic for them.

Let us know how you get on.

Got the truck back today looks amazing! Pictures dont do it justice.

Workmanship by both Bryan Berry Panalbeaters and Arrow Wheels is amazing. Would highly recommend both of them. Bryan Berry are passionate about restoring classics and also do insurance jobs. They asked me about all the details and took pictures during all of the stages of the the restoration. I cant recommend them highly enough.

Congrats. Now that it's in that kind of shape it will start accruing value and not losing it.
