Re: Century battery AXD26R
I use a Exide Orbital AGM battery 750cca in Zuk which is for starting and winching. Great, love it, and LOT cheaper than Optima (1/3 of the price).

[imgIntroducing the new AXD26R Battery
The new AXD26R product is a fully sealed Valve Regulated design battery with AGM (absorbed glass matt) separators that comes in a convenient NS70 size case. It has tightly packed cells to ensure extreme resistance to vibration and is 100% leak proof even if punctured which allows orientation in any way when fitting. It's low internal resistance gives it high cranking output (750CCA) and it's robust positive plates give it a high reserve capacity (140 Minutes) for sustained power and lifespan.
The product's ideal applications include:
Starting applications for racing cars and rigorous 4WD applications
Parallel string truck starting applications where lower ampere hour AGM batteries have been typically used but fail to give adequate life
Great dual purpose marine battery for inboard/outboard cranking and to provide light cyclic duty typical in pleasure boats up to 6m
Taxi use where conventional wet batteries suffer short life spans
12 and 24V light commercial applications where tail lifts or hiabs are fitted
This is the actual blurb I got from Century.

Re: Century battery AXD26R
This is interesting, I was thinking of getting an optima( not sure who supplies them in the Waikato or how much they are) but this could be a good alternative.
Re: Century battery AXD26R
around $500, i dont even pay that for a yellow top optima.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..
Re: Century battery AXD26R
I paid $370 for my optima 10 years ago and its still going
So this century battery should last 15 years?

Re: Century battery AXD26R
Two different types of battery in the construction. Think the Optima would outlast any conventional type of battery because of its design.

and how much did you pay for a litre of fuel 10 years ago?????
have you priced a yellow top lately?(except thru callum, cause he seems to sell everything so cheap-hmmm, shipping batteries to the NI??)
the days of buying something that lasts for years are over, its just not profitable anymore!
on a side note, word is that the conventional lead-acid battery will be dis-continued in 2 or 3 years time. then we will be stuck with hybrid batteries that cost more, perform better (in most situations) but for not as long.....
sigh

My point is it has lasted for 10 years, I know several people who have had orbitals that have died in just over 2 years!
Will the AXD26R last for 10 years?
If not why get one over an Optima?

Re: Century battery AXD26R
Buy it off Callum for $260+ even with freight thats an unbeatable price!!! The question is, will he sell them for that price?? If so I"ll buy off him cos its way better than what I buy from Century and I thought I was on a good discount.
